I wish I had of read the reviews for this property before booking! We have stayed at this property about four years ago and it was fantastic so decided to book five nights there again this week.. LUCKILY I booked through booking.com, because when it came to having to change our booking and try contact these people, it’s simply impossible. Phone just goes to voicemail, left countless messages and texts. Called the restaurant who commented they get people calling all the time with same issue (accommodation not owned by Elkamo anymore) and gave me another number to try - this number is just switched off. Booking.com couldn’t even reach them. With no way of knowing if we would have somewhere to sleep arriving at night, no check in details - I was able to cancel free of charge thankfully. Very frustrating and poor Management. With only two days out from arriving, of course Margs and surrounds is fully booked - leaving not much accommodation to stay in. What a joke. Just answer the phone.

Beware of Booking

After an amazing stay here (maybe two years ago), I had booked to stay for a night last weekend. Unfortunately, a week beforehand our plans had to change because of work.

I tried to call straight away to cancel but it just kept going to message bank. I left a voicemail, sent an email, online form via website and tried to call about 8 more times to just try to speak to someone!! 

On the day I was meant to check in, I was sent the check-in details and charged for the night, which made me pretty angry. No one has contacted me back still...
When you try to cancel a WEEK in advance and still get charged $180 for not staying.. I believe this is completely unfair and unjustifiable.

No customer service & no refund offered...

We booked a three-night stay for the Gourmet Escape and wanted to be central for shuttle buses. Elkamo was perfect! Literally opposite Settlers Tavern and the IGA, plus equipped with a kitchenette (bar fridge, kettle, microwave, and wine glasses!) and spa bath too. The king bed was huge and comfortable, and the room itself was spacious. We’d read some reviews that mentioned cleaning was an issue but our room was great on arrival, and housekeeping visited promptly each day. We could hear a little noise from nearby venues on Saturday night (but hello, you’re in the town centre!). It wasn’t an issue at all. Only minor downside would be occasional patchy TV reception and limited stations. But no-one comes to Margaret River for that! Thanks Elkamo - will stay again.

Super convenient with a spa bath!

It's such a shame because it has so much potential, but the management staff are absolutely appalling to deal with. Extremely passive aggressive, obnoxious and rude. 
We booked a room for a night and had also requested a restaurant reservation, only to arrive and the restaurant be closed for renovations. Had we not booked a table we wouldn't have cared, but it doesn't hurt to be considerate of your customers and to let them know that you will be closed, especially if they are staying in your accommodation. Had we known they were going to be closed we would have stayed elsewhere.

Unfortunately our room had many faults too (lights blown, A/C not working in the middle of winter, fan not working, etc) and so combined with the reservation inconvenience and lack of customer service we were unsatisfied with our stay. After contacting the management staff to let them know, we were told that we were to blame for all of these issues (yes, even the fact that the hairdryer doesn't work) but they would 'follow it up'. A few days passed and we hadn't heard back, so we called again only to find that they had blocked our number! After calling from a different mobile we were told, after a very horrible conversation, that they won't be doing anything because all of the issues were our fault.

We have honestly never experienced such terrible customer service anywhere and it's such a shame that it was in our beautiful south west region. 

Do yourself a favour and avoid this place. The management are unbelievably rude and undermining. I won't be supporting this business, nor will my friends or family.

Appalling behaviour by management

Apart from good location and pretty good good set up,  it was evident this room has not been cleaned,  there was hair all over the floor in the bathroom,  dust over surfaces I  main room and the carpet not been vacuumed,  there was bits all over it but worse was broken glass right beside the bed and tiny shards that had not been vacuumed up.  

Over night stay

Room & bathroom clean, kitchenette good as well.  A great location as well.  Only negative was the very loud air-con....made sleeping difficult; without it on room was too warm.
Parking very handy as well.

Couple of days away...

We just wanted accommodation for one night while going to a dinner at Voyager.     Margaret River Visitor Centre suggested a number of properties in town.  We booked this non refundable luxury suite with balcony.  I should have looked at trip adviser first.  The reviews are not good!!  The room was large and the most striking feature was a big white table covered in what looked like cigarette burns.    The “balcony” was a passage running outside the room with a piece of AstroTurf two chairs and a table.   it was an enclosed covered area, balcony would not be a correct description.  The bathroom was not clean.  There was hair in the shower, plus a soap wrapper from previous guests.  The extractor fan was broken, and there was one small tube of shampoo, and conditioner but no shower gel.  The hairdryer was missing, (apart from the bit that clips onto the nozzle!) two light bulbs were missing and there is no phone to reception in the room.  In fact there is no reception! The waitress in the restaurant showed us to our room.  If you need any help then a trip down to the restaurant to speak to someone is required.  I would not bother to stay here again.  It really is grim.  Fortunately we did not spend much time in the room and the bed was comfortable.  

Disappointing

On a last minute trip to Margaret River, we booked here for 2 nights. One of 4 suites, we chose the front room for more natural light and a balcony. 
The room was quite large and reasonably well appointed. Bathroom quite small, but did have a spa. Our first night was good, our second was very noisy as it was Friday night and right above the Elkamo Bar and very loud until late.   Aircon very efficient. The Doona had a large yellow stain in the middle of it....  
off street parking was free. 
Adequate but pricey. 

Not exactly Luxury Suites

My husband and I stayed at Elkamo for two  nights this weekend for a local wedding.
I contacted the property before driving down to request late checkout (day after the wedding) and instructions on key collections.  I received an automated response from booking.com stating late check out was declined but no instructions for key collection, I ended up having to ring the property to find out. The girl was very helpful and check in was easy, just collecting the keys from the bar below.
The location is fantastic! The room was ok but the glass divider between the bedroom space and bathroom was missing a panel, this meant no privacy while going to the toilet!!! Talk about killing the romance.
When you pay $220/night you really dont expect things like that, it's not good enough.
The issue was however fixed for the second night with no apology or communication, just came home from the wedding to it fixed.
Kitchenette was handy to make coffee and toast and the set up is good with bedroom and lounge space and a large TV.
We wont stay again, you can get better accommodation in Margs with no missing bathroom panels and better communication.
