Beautifully renovated old residence. We stayed one night in the stable loft room which was great for a one night stay and was very clean.  Will stay in another room for longer next time in Winter to take in the use of the fireplaces and the beautiful living rooms. To wander around this property and read the history was very interesting. The self serve breakfast is lovely with a great coffee machine. The seating area is also beautiful. So much to explore in the grounds and the house. Would recommend anyone to stay here you won’t be disappointed. 

Fine old lady.

Fantastic place to break the journey south. Particularly if travelling with dogs. Charming welcoming and comfortable hotel. Mittagong town centre is a 10 minute walk and contains a couple of pet friendly pubs. A great find!

Perfect travellers rest

We stayed here for our grandson wedding with all the family around the venu it was a fantastic place to stay an we felt so comfortable an the staff an Carol were lovely people thank you so much we had a great weekend Dianne /John

A wonderful weekend 

What a lovely place to spend a night in. The Inn is beautifully decorated and there are several elegant and comfortable living rooms to relax and enjoy the atmosphere of a heritage building in. Carol was extremely welcoming and encouraged us to enjoy a champagne on the verandah, and then later in the evening a nightcap in the cigar room by an open fire. All the living rooms had the fireplaces set and ready to light. Our attic bedroom was spacious, charming and very comfortable. We were tempted to delay our flight home and stay another couple of nights - we will definitely return.

An absolutely lovely place, comfortable, elegant and welcoming.

A beautiful old inn rich in history, which was easy to find out about with a short history walk, lots of story boards and old photo's around the place. The gardens are really pretty. The room was clean and well stocked with coffee, tea and a simple breakfast. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. Thanks to all at the Fitzroy Inn.

Awesome experience 

Historic inns are usually interesting but often uncomfortable so we were delighted with our experience at the Fitzroy Inn, which dates back to 1836. The ground floor is mostly public rooms, each with history that is nicely presented. Our upstairs room was large, spotless and comfortable. A warm welcome from the hosts and their two dachshunds completed the great experience. One word of caution: the steep stairs up to our room might be difficult for people with mobility issues or with large/heavy luggage.

Comfortable stay in a historic inn

Loved this place. We looked at the Inn as a potential place for our wedding but ended up having that elsewhere. This time around friends of ours got married at Bendooleys Estate and we opted to stay here for a couple of days. It did not disappoint.

The feel of the old Inn is very homestead like and is warm and inviting. The number of open spaces and room for guests to relax in is great, certainly no lack of those. It also has several fireplaces which are ready to be lit, well stocked with firewood, matches and fire starters so even the novice can get a fire going. There is also a gas heater for those who prefer direct heat without the effort of the fireplace, but let’s be honest there is something incredibly therapeutic about lighting a fire. 

We stayed in room number 5, at the front of the property just above the front room with the double fireplaces. The size of the room is impressive and the feel is warm. The bathroom is sizeable and comes well equipped with all necessities. The bed itself was fine, sturdy despite a bit of creaking. It was a comfy sleep. 

The room has a pod coffee machine with several pods available for coffee making which is a nice touch. It also has an electric kettle for tea. We were provided with two little cartons of milk, which is great because most hotels never give you enough milk. We were surprised to also find we were supplier with some small cereal packets, some energy bars, two cartons of juice (apple), little packed chocolate croissants and even fresh fruit. Not things you expect in every hotel, so definitely impressed by it.

Service was excellent. The two dogs roaming the property at times are a wonderful addition and the lady who was cleaning the rooms was most attentive. 

The grounds and gardens themselves are wonderful to wander through and relaxing. 

Train lines are pretty close to the building, maybe about 150 metres or so on the other side of the road and a block of land, and at night the trains don’t stop, so expect some noise from that. It didn’t really bother us much and we slept fine. 

There is an iron and ironing board to allow you to get ready. The ironing board lacks any padding which is odd. It would have helped the ironing process. It’s just fabric over the metal board. 

We struggled to find a pen. That would have been a handy addition. 

None of those things really knocked any points off though. Would still give this a 5 star rating and we’ll be back.

Wonderful historic inn

We needed a break after so much isolation, The Fitzroy Inn was our choice and it met all our expectations. Our 3 days at the Fitzroy Inn was just great !  :)
The room was large and the king bed was comfy, tea coffee and breakfast daily was all rather good and it was easy access to Bowral and surrounds.
The staff were friendly and we had access to the formal rooms for relaxing and some billiards & a library for our reading pleasure. The gardens are well worth a look too.
The better rooms are apparently in the schoolmaster cottage, - where we were.

Good location,close to bowral.

I enjoyed 3 nights at the Inn this week and have to say it was absolutely delightful. I have been in the Highlands for 6 years and did not know it existed until I stayed there. I will be staying there again and will be recommending it to friends as well.
