Buttongrass Cabin was a very cute cottage at beautiful Cradle Mountain, very close to the Visitors Centre. We loved our stay there. The cottage was so cosy when the fire was going. The cottage had everything we needed and we especially appreciated having a long soak in the bath after our day’s hiking.

Cutest Cottage

What a little gem of a place to stay. The cottages were very well kept and stocked. We were very comfortable and a great location. Lovely and quiet too. The bath was wonderful after a day trekking around Cradle Mountain. Staff were very helpful and polite.

Gems in the mountains

The cottages are in a great location literally across the road from the Visitor Centre where the shuttles go into the park each day so it was easy to walk to. The cottages are pretty basic and very 70's in the decor but are clean and have what you need (except oil, salt & pepper to cook with!! which would have been super handy given there is a kitchen and no shops to pop to at 7pm). Most other places we stayed in Tassie with a kitchen had these essentials. Bed was comfy and shower good so I'd stay again but probably more to do with location than anything else. For the $240/night I think it was a good price within the park area, but also overpriced compared to many other gorgeous places we stayed in Tassie on same trip. Feel like it could do with a little makeover.

Good cottages in great location

Absolutely gorgeous cottages right across from the Cradle Mountain Visitors Centre. They had the fire lit for us when we arrived and it was fully equipped with a gas stove, oven, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. Stunning location and amazing quality accommodation.

Incredible Cottage

The Highlander staff were excellent! We informed them we were arriving early and they had our room ready and waiting. Communication was first class. Cottages were clean, well configured and had all facilities required.  The fire was a godsend on a cold night and easy to light. Great ambience. We would recommend to anyone !!!

Highland Heaven

We stayed in Tallowwood  accommodating the five of us. We had initially booked a smaller cabin but another family member decided to join . The owners were able to upgrade our cabin when there was a cancellation. Communication was easy and excellent . 
Parking was at a car park in front of the cabin . 
There a queen bed in a bedroom with a heater and an attached toilet with no heating . 
The other queen bed was in the same room as the living and dining in front of a log fire heater . Plenty of wood was available . There was another toilet with a spa and wc. The kitchen had a oven stove with four cooking hobs, microwave and a kettle . No dishwasher nor washing machine though . 
The most interesting was that a possum appeared outside our cabin at night and
 we also saw a baby kangaroo in the carpark the next morning . 
Do buy your groceries if you decide to cook . We bought ours in Sheffield . 
The visitor centre where you catch the shuttle is about 400m opposite the hotel . There is a huge car park there if you decide to drive there . 
Overall a most pleasant and interesting stay in a log cabin in the mountains . Will definitely recommend but do book early as there are not that many cabins available .

Beautiful log cabin opposite the cradle mountain visitor centre.

Very beautiful and comfortable wooden cabins set in the bush. You'll see pademelons and currawong but barely see another human. The manager is very helpful if you do need something. Fully equipped guest laundry. Just across the road from the Visitor Centre and the shuttle bus to all the walks. Loved Dove Lake, Marion's Lookout via Crater Lake and eke smaller boardwalks. Highly recommended! 

Stunning accommodation at Cradle Mountain

Lovely cabin. Very comfortable and cosy. The cabin was warm when we arrived. The heater was on and the firebox set up to light. This was great as it was 1 degree overnight in the beginning of March. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything we could need was provided and the cabin was really cute.

Cosy and Comfortable

Stayed in Myrtle Cabin for 3 nights. The cabin was so warm and comfortable with a lovely open fire. Location of Highlanders to the visitor centre is a few minutes walk. I can’t recommend Highlanders enough.
