Went here for a meal disappointed in what I got I had fish with veg, the fish was ok the veggies plain and boring and the mashed potato was dry it had no butter milk or cream added just mashed potato, the apple pie was ok, but not so the aerosol cream that just melted into nothing on top of pie, and when I asked for a glass of wine, I  was refused as they would have had to open the bottle the excuse was not much patronage at moment to warrent this, they also had the nerve to charge me $3.00 for a glass of water, which I wanted a slice of lemon which I did not get, I think they must have used squeeze lemon not going back

Stopped in for a meal

What a beautiful lunch I couldn't believe the amount and variety of it's contents. I went for the 50/ 50 seafood which gave me three scallops and three prawns beautifully cooked and quite large in in size. But what amazed me was the salad, amount, content and size.
 1/2 a tomato, slice of orange, lettuce, one whole boiled egg, beetroot, pasta shells that were filled, lemon, and a cold slaw salad with a lot of content, carrot, onion and the list goes on. To top it all off was tartare sauce. It was beautifully tasty and presented very quickly. Now here comes the bonus when you look at the photo I had already eaten a scallop and three full forks of the salad. I had a large orange juice and the bill was only $18.
 Well worth a visit for a meal and enjoy the atmosphere and service. 

Beautiful food and great value.

This trip was our first to the Mole Creek Hotel for a meal having intended to go there for several years. The service was quick and friendly, garlic bread was nice and fresh and not stale like some and my wife’s pumpkin soup a good serve and excellent. My wife had the lamb roast with vegies and was excellent, I had the scotch steak and it was cooked correctly but I am not a fan of having the pepper gravy poured over the steak and prefer it in a small bowl or jug. There was a little vein of gristle in the steak which is not uncommon with scotch and with the gravy poured over the steak it was hard to find it to cut it out. The steak was good quality and haven’t downed my feed back because it is common. The Chips and salad were excellent. This is a typical country pub with expected ambience being slightly rustic but pleasant.

Sunday Lunch

We were hoping for the quintessential country pub experience and first impressions were good. Good service, a busy dining room and character features bode well. Unfortunately that’s where it ended. 

The meals were expensive and if top notch, no problem, but they were very below par. For example, I wasn’t aware that canned corn, peas and carrots were ‘fresh seasonal vegetables’! I also had slices of boiled egg with no yolk - sounds a bit trivial but who got the good parts?!

The chicken schnitzel, whilst well sized, was lacking in flavour and everything else was straight from the deep fryer.

Given this was the only pub in town I guess they have a captive audience but if I had a choice I’d eat somewhere else.

Promised a lot, delivered a little.

Mole Creek Hotel is a lovely hotel set in the middle of town.  The staff are very friendly and helpful.   Meals are very generous in size.  The scallop & Bacon Brochette was lovely.  The 50/50 was totally delicious - would recommend. 

Lovely country hotel

Hotel in lovely Mole Creek that has plenty of sport interest and holds a concert in February out back in their expansive grassed area. A real attraction in the area. Normally meals or coffee inside or on balcony. Look for platypus in the creek out back.

What an absolute disgrace the place has turned into since last reviewed.
Penny pinching and pathetic service make it the worst we have stayed in anywhere in Australia.
Arrival was difficult waiting outside until staff appeared from the house behind the property. The "premium" room had no decor and a bed sagging to one side & restaurant closed (chef resigned weeks before).
But the breakfast! Aaargh! Locked out of the main building from our back yard cottage, but told hot breakfast will be complimentary for our stay. Start with cereal (sour long life milk) toast (stale frozen no name white only bread) and no staff to cook the hot meal. 
Day 2 and the solitary staff member has moved on to be replaced by the owner who is stand offish and disinterested in us. More sour milk and the same white bread loaf so hot meal instead. Eggs so hard they crumble when touched and VERY crispy bacon on stale white bread, then coffee we could not drink as cold and made with long life milk.
Day 3 we decide on just yoghurt and are give a $34 bill for yesterday's  inedible complimentary breakfast. No negotiation as they have our credit card details. The owner quite arrogant and rude about our complaints.
The only redeeming feature about the place is that the pub 3 doors down serves fantastic meals with wonderful service. Don't mention the guest house though as the locals get irate just talking about the bad name that it gives their friendly village.

Now the absolute pits - avoid if possible

The quote from Alice in Wonderland proudly displayed in this lovely old building pretty well sums up the hotel!

The guesthouse has been lovingly refurbished and has a glorious location looking out towards the hills of the Western Tiers. It oozes character, with ‘olde worlde’ knick knacks around the place, comfortable furnishings and two large common rooms for guests to use, one of which has tea and coffee facilities. Our bed room was clean and comfortable so what more could you want?

Service? Basically this ends when the self service breakfast, overseen by the silent owner reading a book, finishes at 09:00. Rooms are not serviced and we discovered on arrival that no food was available as the chef had left three weeks before our visit. “You can eat at the hotel up the road” - fine but it was closed for one of our 3 nights stay! 

The owners are lovely, charming, friendly but possibly, like many in Alice in Wonderland, a little confused by what is going on around them! 

Do visit.



‘We’re all mad here’!

Positives:
1) Location - set between the mountains, close to the National Park. 2) Our room was facing the road, so there was a bit of car noise, but it stopped in the evening. The room was spacious with a vintage/fairy tale style decor. 3) Free WiFi. 4) There was no fridge in the room, but we had access to a small fridge in the common room. There was also a kettle and some tea/coffee for everyone to use. 5) Lounge room with a home entertainment system available to the guests. 6) A nice garden with a creek running through it, behind the property.

Negatives:
1) Very thin walls - we could hear people snoring and talking at all hours of the night. 2) TV in our room was not working. We informed the owner, who came in and told us she had no idea what to do about it and never heard back from her after that. 3) Breakfast was included in the room price, but it was VERY basic. Considering the wholesome, fresh produce (honey, fruit etc) available from the nearby farms, we were very surprised to see some cheap, nasty, supermarket honey, jam and canned fruit on the table. The final insult was the half frozen bread from the supermarket with a reduced price sticker (worth $0.75) still firmly attached to it.

Breakfast was a let down

This was way more than we expected.  Great room suoerb restaurant featuring locsl priduce, and we even saw two platypus in the river on the property!  Highly recommended, this could be a great place for a writers retreat or motorcycle club run.  we will be back.
