lovely old style british b&b our room was the largest with ensuite , the hosts Tina & Brian could not do enough for you , very quiet the breakfast was very old school english decent servings highly recomend

We visited Moss Vale to attend a play and decided to stay overnight and were looking for something a bit different to the standard hotel/motel.  

This beautiful old house is situated right off the main route, with lovely brick walls surrounding the grounds.  Documents in the house show deed of land from the early 1800s.  

A traditional BnB, with beautifully appointed rooms and ensuite.  Common rooms are comfortable, and the entire place is lovely and clean, with big windows.  

Breakfast was fantastic, made to order.  I had the herons nest, an amazing field mushroom with a poached egg. 

It was nice to meet fellow travellers and share experiences over breakfast.  

Only draw back was some sound between the rooms, and doors closing loudly from late returning guests. 

Lovely traditional BnB

This is a traditional B&B in the British style. It's a heritage building in Moss Vale with the Welsh and English owners living on site. There are five guest rooms, each with an ensuite.

Shared facilities include a kitchenette, living area, dining room and sun room. The sun room is gorgeous in winter and naturally warm, ideal for an afternoon nap!

It's about 1km into the town centre, where there's a pub, cafes, restaurants, supermarket and shops to explore. Bowral is about 10km away, making this an ideal base for exploring the Southern Highlands. Fitzroy Falls and Morton National Park are also nearby (17km).

Breakfast comprised a selection of cereals, fruit and toast along with a menu for hot dishes including Welsh and Scottish specialties. There's guest wi-fi if you ask for it.

The bed was comfortable. I felt the ducted heating was too hot, but others might say it's too cold with high ceilings and timber floors. The floors creak, so if other guests stumble in late or wander around at night you're sure to hear them.

If planning a morning walk or run, I suggest heading down Suttor Road, where a shared trail goes to the Wingecarribee River and wetlands ... a hidden gem.

Convenient location, lots of character

Brian and Tina are lovely hosts, very friendly, helpful and accommodating. 
The room we had was large, the bathroom spotless, the bed very comfortable and fresh towels daily. 
There was a large selection of cereals, fresh fruit and bread and toppings for toast as well as hot, made to order breakfast options to choose from and it was all presented beautifully.

Very pleasant few nights spent at Heronswood House.

In a town where the other accommodation options are chain motels or pubs, Heronswood House shines like a beacon of civilisation.  Heronswood House has character; a beautiful garden, creaky floorboards and high ceilings.  The beds are comfortable, the linens fresh and the rooms spotlessly clean.

Brian and Tina are excellent hosts, welcoming but unobtrusive, and the made-to-order breakfast is fabulous.  

The sad news is that Brian & Tina plan to retire next year, so this is probably our last stay - my recommendation is that if you need to go to the Southern Highlands, take the opportunity while you can, and stay there. 

  

Excellent local stay

We stayed here for 3 nights over the long weekend. Great old building on the outskirts of town. The decor is old but full of character. The owners Brian and Tina are amazing and were very helpful and welcoming. 

Rooms are decent sized with good ensuite (powerful shower) there isn't a TV in the room but you do have access to one in the lounge. 

Breakfast is probably the best I've had in a B&B. lots of fresh fruit, toast, cereals and a choice of about 8 hot cooked meals. We had most of the options over the 3 days, all of which were delicious
