We stayed overnight in a pet friendly cabin and it was the best accommodation we’ve had on our road trip from the NT to Gold Coast.  The cabin was spacious and had a small fenced back yard so the dogs could roam free.  The bed was super comfy and the cabin had everything we needed.  Staff were very friendly and gave us great advice on where to eat etc.  I’d highly recommend anyone travelling with dogs to stay here.  

Best pet friendly accommodation

As the season slows down this park had plenty of powered sites at $33 each. Very reasonable. It was great to have Grassy sites away from the town centre with clean spacious facilities and especially clean toilets. We needed a day rest from our hectic travels and this caravan park was just ideal. Sue the relief manager was a delight to deal with and nothing was a problem. Highly recommend this park for anyone passing through Mount Isa.

Mount Isa Discovery Parks -Argyllshire

Greeted by lovely reception staff. nice wide, flat sites, with water, grey water disposal and power all easily accessed. Amenity block was aged, but clean and very functional. Unfortunately, this area has experienced a high crime rate recently, and with media coverage, patriotism has declined. Management has done what they can to warn clients and avoid the problems. We had no evidence of any potential safety concerns while here. very enjoyable rest while travelling far north QLD.

This is not a campsite that I can recommend for anyone.  As a Discovery park, we had some reasonable expectation, when booked, that we were securing an above-average park.  Instead, we found there was little shade and we were parking in complete dirt without any pads.  We were packed in so tightly together that windows and awnings could not be opened at the same time and the close proximity meant that emptying toilets was done in the view of your neighbour and sadly, sometimes right in their outdoor space.

The park information and rules were full of restrictions that everyone seemed to ignore without any consequences.  They were explicitly clear on numerous rules that they were not responsible in any way for any loss, damage, injury, or theft that might occur to us during our stay which leads one to wonder why anyone would pay to stay there.    

During our second night there, we awoke to a great deal of noise and flashlights.  A man was standing inside our caravan and it was clear there were others outside.  We were screaming, all our lights inside and out were turned on and we had several loud phone calls with the police.  While on the phone with the police we could hear a woman screaming at the other end of the park, right next door to the main office/house.

The police were very good and thorough and they were actively present over the next few days as the reality of what had happened sunk in.

Management made no attempt to check on us, to express their concern, or to even warn the other guests of what had happened.  No lights were repaired, no extra security was put in place and no instructions were provided on how to secure caravans against people who were easily able to break in.  None of the information that the police provided us after the fact was passed along by management, invaluable information that would undoubtedly save others from ever facing the same kind of horror.  NOTHING was done or said.

Their literature did mention that we should let them know of any suspicious activity that happened but considering all the disturbances of that night, how obvious the police had been, and the amount of energy and effort management have put into conveying to their guests that they were not responsible in any way for damages, problems, health, or safety of any of us, there seemed little point. 

A simple visit from anyone from the office to check on us would have gone a long way as the whole experience was extremely traumatic and has been life-altering for me.  Further, I feel they had a duty to warn the other people in the park.  Theft is one thing.  The idea that someone could just open a locked door and were prepared to come in knowing that there are people inside in bed, is another thing completely.  These men could have easily grabbed our keys and wallet - and did not which suggests they might have had a different agenda completely.

The best of amenities cannot make up for lack of safety or human decency and this park cannot even brag that it has amenities that rate anything above average.  

Give this one a miss.

Don’t understand why longer vans positioned up
On sloped sights- barely fitting the jockey wheel on flat ground with vans nearly touching at the back. No security and van stolen behind us during our first night. It was returned by police but feel there should be security gates so cars can’t be driven straight out. Amenities were adequate . There were grassy flat sites which would have been more suitable for any of the four vans close to us. Cost of $112 for 2 nights was pricey for a disappointing stay in Mt Isa.

Disappointing

This park has the best clean facilities we have seen. Grass sites. Sites are well spaced. Small park and we felt very safe out the road at this park.
Laundry is clean with all working washing machines. And even a iron. Toilet and showers at the north end are like mini ensuites. Toilet and showers together. Excellent.

Great little caravan and cabin park at Mt Isa .

We do try to avoid the Isa due to poor quality caravan parks that we have encountered over many years, but since finding this one which we feel is ideal it is no longer a problem. We had a large powered site and across the road from the well kept and clean amenity block which was a bonus. I can understand when stopping in a cabin which is close to the highway that road noise may be a problem, but not so in the van powered areas!

Having stopped in other Isa Caravan Parks we feel this is the Best!

Average, for the price we paid the cabin was very outdated, we also had cockroaches! 
I have stayed here many times in the past and was great but now it seems run down

We also had rubbish in the room that was from the previous occupants still in the room!

Wouldn’t stay again for the price!

This park is on the Barkley highway on the edge of town. As a consequence there is significant road noise. I had an unpowered site. It was difficult to determine the boundaries but that did not seem to matter. The site was very deep. It was also very dusty.

The facilities were ensuite toilet shower suites. There were nowhere near enough to deal with the full park. Also they were a little tired.

There might be better choices

Reception friendly and accommodating offering loads of help. 
Pool fairly clean. Refreshing not awesome. 
Cabin dated and filthy curtain was the first thing you see. Look past it at the cabin is fair to midly. 
Completely sufficient clean enough and everything you need. Blinds are broken and it’s pretty stale smelling. 
Bed comfy enough. 
Close to town a pretty decent stay overnight. Wouldn’t stay any longer.
