My two daughters and I have just had 2 fabulous nights in Duffy's Cottage.  From the moment we walked in the charm had us.  Everything was perfect.  It wasn't long before we had the fire going and dinner cooking.  
We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the comfort, peace and beauty of the location.  
The cottage is well equipped and appointed.
We enjoyed walks around the garden, observing the wild life and the spa!
The hosts, Judith and Dirk, are very friendly and willing to help when needed. (We had to ask for sugar for our dessert recipe!)
We would love to return in future.

Tranquil and restoring

We were two couples staying in Duffy's cottage (the biggest of the options at Redgum) for 2 nights.  The outlook in winter was beautiful.  The cottage itself was clean and cozy and had everything we needed including a hot tub spa on the verandah - very nice!  Very comfortable beds with quality linen.
Dirk was very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
There is a lovely little winery a short walk down the road if you are so inclined.  Kangaroos and birds all around - very enjoyable stay and highly recommend.

Lovely stay in Duffys cottage - warm and cozy and peaceful

Redgum Hill have a few different options for accommodation, and we stayed in Gumnut Cottage. It is located near the main residence but there is still plenty of privacy. It overlooks the Blackwood River and has fairly bushy surroundings. The Balingup-Nannup road is nearby but when we stayed there midweek you rarely ever heard a vehicle go past. The double storey cottage is very comfortable. It is attractive with exposed beam ceilings, verandahs and an upstairs balcony. The entire upstairs area is the bedroom. Be warned if you have limited mobility - the stairs are very steep and almost a ladder - careful going down them while still half asleep.
The hosts, Dirk and Judith, are very friendly and welcoming. We took the option of the barbecue pack and the cooked breakfasts and both were delivered on time and were perfect meals.
Mobile coverage is good as long as you have Telstra and we were able to use it for internet access. There is no wifi in the cottage but it is available to use at the main residence if you need.
It's a short and scenic drive to Nannup in one direction or Balingup in the other for supplies or tourist attractions.
The couples' spa on the back verandah is very good.
We'd recommend Gumnut cottage for a couple looking for a relaxing few days away.

Gumnut Cottage - perfect for a couples' weekend

Judith and Dirk made our stay exceptionally pleasant for the two nights we spent there. Nothing was too much trouble. The Gumnut cottage  was perfect for our needs with all of the modern conveniences as well as the two person spa and slow combustion log fire. Full cooking facilities are provided including a slow cooker, exceptional for our lamb shanks. Separate fridge and freezer, oven and micro wave meant we could cook any meal for any occasion. The fire place heated both the downstairs living area and the upstairs bedroom. The flat screen TV had a top box with a multitude of TV channels plus the option on the TV of plugging in our own hard drive via USB to watch our own movies. The upstairs and downstairs balconies were both excellent for our afternoon teas to relax and look out over the countryside.
We will certainly be returning to Redgum Hill in the near future

Romantic and Peaceful stay

Stayed here for 2 nights, has everything you could want, fully equipped kitchen, plenty of wood for the fire which kept going till next morning, comfortable bed, huge shower, great 2 person spa. Nice walking track, loads of citrus trees and bird life. Extra spa towels would be handy, and instructions for TV/ DVD. Not being tech heads we were baffled by the 3 devices and gave up. Would stay again, lovely.

Peaceful Getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  Thanks for having us. The cottage was lovely and clean. The views of the gardens were beautiful.  All I can say is do not eat at the Nannup pub, you will be disappointed.

2 day stay

I had five days at Gumnut Cottage at Redgum Hill.  I was alone and enjoyed the comforts a small cosy cottage with a wonderful two person spa. Every thing was very clean and all my needs where met.  The property is 10 acres along the Blackwood river and there is a lovely walk throughout the property.  There are kangaroos, emu, crows, kookaburras, blue wrens and a mass of butterflies with lovely set out gardens.  The stair case to the loft is very steep and would not suit all people.  Redgum is on the Ballingup/Nanup back road and is in far from Bridgetown and Margaret River.  The caretakers were lovely friendly and helpful - I can recommend this accommodation. Note - there is no WiFi BUT there is very good Telstra telephone coverage.

Peace Quiet and Nature

Duffys cottage was clean and tidy.  It had a small table top oven and hot plates on top for use.  The two couldn’t be used together.  A microwave available too. Plus a BBQ.
The kitchen was equipped okay. Unlike many stays now no oil or other simple cooking supplies were available. No pay it forward cupboard, which can be really helpful.  The veranda lights could not all be used, only the central one of three, as one of the bedrooms was locked that had the light switch in it.  This was a bit dangerous as the spa had no light (tucked around the side by the locked bedroom) and it was difficult to see without using phone torches.
All up a lovely place but be mindful that the surrounding area has with limited food offerings after 3pm so be prepared to cook.  The BBQ was the best option we found.
One last thing the owners, whom I spoke to Dirk, all very nice but didn’t reply to my emails or txts. So don’t expect communications to flow. I found phoning to be the best way to obtain answers.

Every thing was just okay

We booked a room for one night for $245, got told by email we had to pay $295 and $200 deposit. Something about us only booking for one night instead of two, funny the Booking.com app allowed us to do that. Anyway, we arrived before check in time and were told so in no uncertain manner. That's OK, our fault. We came back later. It was then we were told the Spa wasn't working (they advertise that every room has a spa, they don't advertise it's a shared spa with the other rooms or that it's 100 metres across open space outside to get to it). We were given a bottle of red instead of the spa. The rooms were clean and had everything you need. But what we didn't expect was to have to walk outside to get from one room to another in our two room  "villa". You have to walk across an unenclosed verandah. The tv's have the old style, el cheapo square shaped screens. They could upgrade to 16:9 modern LCDs quite easily. I had to unplug the tv receiver to plug in the DVD player myself as it wasn't wired up properly. It's clean, the location is good but it isn't worth the money they are charging right now. It could be though, just a few changes/upgrades needed.
