Was disappointing, visited with a group of friends, the prices on the day didnt match what they advertised on their website or social media pages whatsoever, but we were still prepared to bear with it.. but in the end we left without eating or drinking due to the service, no-one we encountered were able to get our simple order correct enough to even take to the kitchen. We won't be back.

Waste of time.


I think "Christie" the owner got the word "hospitality" confused with "hostile" when she took over management of the Neath Hotel from her parents...because that was exactly how my friends, husband and I were treated. Christie was rude, aggressive, argumentative and non complying. My friend simply and politely questioned why she did not get the room they paid for ....one with a balcony...a simple enough request right .....the barrage of abuse we received from Christie ...extended to her being personal...unhelpful and hostile (theres that word again!) there is really to much to go into. However Christie suggested we go somewhere else if you can get in ...with a smirk on her face because everything is "booked out" ...really ..that was only one of the many many inappropriate comments Christie made.
I like to operate with constructive criticism...Christie when faced with a client who has the right to question what she paid for do not argue , berate (all of us) simply "zip it" smile, take a breath..
pleasently offer a free glass of wine or anything else that will show a professional and empathic personality to ensure a positive outcome for all..
regardless of whether you like the question presented or not ...and you will obtain a very different outcome to the one you are receiving now. My husband and I have stayed at the Neath before when your experienced and welcoming parents managed it....however it will never happen again. Since then the rooms have detoriated. Noisy due to being on Cessnock Road even though we requested a room on the other side. Which again when we politely questioned it was suggested we leave at 6pm on a saturday night!The food rank...the "hospitality " extremely bad. ..
For your future reference Christie "one" of the meanings of hospitality! I suggest you look up the rest. Maybe then you will understand the difference from being hostile to being hospitable....it's really not that hard.

It was shocking ..

I went with a group of friends to the Neath Hotel for our annual Christmas Party. We had a booking for 20 people at 6pm. When I went up to the counter to order our meals at 6.15, I was told that there was a 45 minute wait and they were not taking any orders!  So while some of our party were served, several couples were left waiting, to be told 20 minutes later that we could order but that there was still a 45 minute wait. As many of the group were by then finishing their meals were able to enjoy the company but had to stop off and order a take-away on our way home. When a restaurant knows that they have a booking for a group of 20 plus regular customers - why did they leave themselves short staffed and have to close down the service? Would definitely not recommend this venue, and will not be returning.

Feeling really let down!

We stopped in for some drinks with family and the owner was so welcoming. He stopped for a few chats with us and even brought the kids out a wafer stick dipped in chocolate, as well as helping my husband out to our table with our drinks. So impressed with the amazing service!!!

Fantastic friendly service

Lets start with the Pesto focaccia bread it was terrific ! Sadly it went down hill from there... my wife ordered the Arancini balls as her meal...the flavor was good but the crust was soft - every other place they serve Arancini the crusty outside is one of the features of the dish. I then ordered the Seafood Risotto - I love a good Risotto ! The texture was right and that's about it - It was the most expensive meal on the extensive specials board and was bordering on bland. The half blue swimmer crab was a disaster- the claws had watery crumbly flesh the flesh in the body was completely raw.... When I told the waiter, he apologized but didn't even bother to look at it as he took it away. I was told it would include scallops - buggered if I could find any ! We then ordered a Tiramisu which can only be described as mushy. At least the Staff was friendly ! Very very disappointed.

Wedding Anniversary Dinner

this hotel is closed and starting to become run down and derelict Very disappointing Comparing it to the hotel it once was shows that the new owners just don't care about retaining its historical architecture.

Lunch

Hosts were lovely! Room was neat and clean. Entire hotel and hallways smelled great and not musty like other older accommodation. Shared bathroom can get quite wet. No fridge or tv in the rooms.

It was a shame the restaurant was closed when we stayed. They did let us watch the football on the restaurant tv.

Kids were intrigued by the soldier’s lamp!!

Great for a short stopover

This was our first visit and what an interesting place.   We sat inside for lunch and it was so quaint with all the antiques etc. Wonderful ambiance.   The staff.. What can I say? The best I have experienced.  The waiter rattled off a dozen daily specials flawlessly, it was amazing.  Our bar waiter had such a passion for the cocktails he was making for us and the wonderful Italian guy who ran the restaurant was a wonderful host.  The meals were also delish.  Will definitely be back. Recommend as a great place for lunch on the way to or from the wineries.

Amazing venue and meal

We had heard that the Neath Hotel had changed recently. So with a group of close friends we went to try. The hotel has definitely changed in to a very classy Hotel with a restaurant. Denise and Carlo have transformed the once old country pub to a classy Italian restaurant. The food is Italian and they have a few Italian wines as well as some local Hunter valley wines to complement your food. The food is not just pub grub, it’s restaurant food so you will need at least two courses. We had one of the specials from the board, Chilli Mussels in tomatoes and it took us back to one of our trips to continental Europe. Next time you go, take time out to speak with Denise and her to look after you and I am sure she will. 

Italy comes to Neath NSW

Enjoyed a rustic Italian meal with family . Service was hit and miss - Carlos was very informative and a great host but the young wait staff seemed rushed and not happy to be there -stomping about with very sour faces on all evening and arguing with the owner !!! which brought the entire experience down . 
Food was a little hit and miss - salad we ordered had store bought dressing ?
Mains were tasty and filling and desserts were a highlight - Wine list had some great Italian options but they had very limited Hunter Valley wines which is a shame when they border the wine region !
