We stayed for 4 nights in Villa 3. The views are beautiful..serene but the accommodation wasnt worth. It is quiet old absolutely need some refurbishment. Kitchen was old and boring. Bathroom have no privacy. I would like an “option” of curtains atleast. 
Would never recommend this property to anyone!! 

Not worth it!!

We had booked well in advance and wanted to stay in a villa instead of a hotel so we chose and booked 5 nights at four winds after a 5 night stay at La Rocher eco retreat not too far away.

The property itself is beautiful. The views are sublime with full panoramic views of rolling hills and blue ocean. The pool area and grounds are lovely and well maintained.

The room or villa itself is very large. We stayed in Villa 2 and it has everything you need. The bed was very comfortable, full bathroom, kitchen, dining area and lounge. The place was very clean and well maintained.

I would agree with a couple of reviews here that say the villa is in need of a refresh, particularly the kitchen area and windows. For us, we had came from a villa elsewhere that was beautiful and modern for the same price so was a bit of a change for us. I’d advise at least changing the light fitting over the bed to a simple down light to avoid spiderwebs.

The owner did come over, she was absolutely lovely and very happy to help out and recommend some great eateries and things to see nearby.

I would recommend the villa for your stay if you would like something chill and quiet outside of Byron. I’ve added some photos from the stay.



Beautiful Property and friendly owner

The location is beautiful but the two storey two bedroom villa needs an overhaul. It is sitting in the 90’s with an odd layout. The deck is rotting and wood beams flip up in places when you walk on them. The place is full of huge active spiders, kitchen had an active ant nest, wasp nest and wasps flying in from veranda, and cockroaches up bedroom walls and in sinks.  The entrance is like that of entering a childcare center with a pool fence before the front door. Quite odd. The carpet is heavily stained and dank smelling needs relaxing. The place is very dirty snd needs a big repaint job. The water system is lacking pressure, hot water runs out fast. All sliding doors are rickety and we propped them with cardboard and magazines to stop them rattling in the wind. None of the doors lock and the front door has a key sitting in it but it doesn’t lock. It is not called Four Winds for nothing - should be renamed ‘Forty Winds’! It is very windy! It  is rustic and at a stretch 3 star not luxury. The advertisement to it is very misleading and is not honest. The pool was full of leaves and skimmer boxes full. Never cleaned and no cleaner in the pool to keep on top of cleaning. It is extremely overpriced for no luxury and we left 3 days early - I was unable to sleep there properly with heat in upstairs room and very active spiders and cockroaches particularly at night. The owners are not interested and the Manager doesn’t want to get involved. The villa needs to be closed until it is suitable for rent and renamed with an honest description.

Very aged & tired Villa #3 - THIS IS NOT LUXURY  Leaking shower,needing new door seals, no exhaust, 80's kitchen,  carpet stains, dirty windows, open food in freezer , Pantene as luxury shampoo, rotten verandah rails, horrible host who abused us when we complained. View and location only upside to this villa. Swimming pool was full of leaves and debris, filter full. Air conditioner flooded the lounge. When wind blows all doors rattle loudly. Some doors wont open, all locks need replacing. Couldn't lock the villa at all. Host refused to listen to us just screamed. I would say 3 stars and way over priced for what they offer.

Four Winds Villas - horrible

The four winds villas are perfectly positioned overlooking the hinterlands and out over the ocean. The sun rises and sunset was quite spectacular. The villas are large and well equipped though in need of a little extra attention to detail and upkeep. What caused us concern  and disruption was the noise coming from an adjacent building at 1:30am on Saturday morning. I had to go out in the cold and the wet to ask those responsible to keep it quiet. We had chosen this property to get away from inconsiderate inner city neighbours only to experience it here. To compound the issue was that the noise was being made by the owner and her friends about 10m from our window on their outdoor entertaining area.I considered this inconsiderate and unprofessional. I might expect this from irresponsible guests not the business owner. It impacted on the remainder of our nights sleep or lack there of. We never received an apology from the those responsible and were offered $100 or about 2/5 of the cost of 1 nights stay (we booked 4 nights)When booking, the charge came off my credit card quick as a flash. I am yet to receive the $100 almost 1 week on. All in all a blemish on an otherwise pleasant stay. I only hope the owner doesn’t drag out the minimal refund having read this balanced and honest review

Unfortunate experience

We wanted somewhere special to just chill out in the Byron Bay hinterlands for five nights. Four Winds was just the perfect escape whilst still being homely and unpretentious. 

Our one-bedroomed, Bali-themed, villa was huge (180 sq m) and the views across the countryside and to the ocean were spectacular - we could even see whales breaching from there. 

The self-catering facilities were fine for all we needed, we went to Woolworths & a bottle shop in Byron when we arrived and stocked up for the week, having brekkie at home most mornings sitting outside wondering at the view and then bbq dinners on the first and last night. 

The other three nights we’d booked dinner in town (15 mins easy drive) which just meant that one of us had to be designated driver.

In summary, it suited our needs perfectly and we’ll definitely be back.  

The only minor negatives I’d raise were that the (huge) bathroom could do with an extractor fan and also some form of heating. 

Just magic

Love this place!!

Just spent 5 nights at this perfect getaway spot in the hinterland above Byron Bay. Views from Lennox Head to Byron. The villa was luxurious and the super king bed so comfy. Lovely hosts. Just a caution is not called four winds for nothing but added to the uniqueness of the trip

Secluded & Private with amazing views

Firstly the rooms were very untidy and smelly, all beer bottles and garbage was there in the backyard jungle area polluting small river and forest area around the property, executive who took our bookings was not at all co-operative

Not worth of money

This is a really creative oasis in the area but it’s glory days on the face of it seem to be behind it sadly, it is well presented and taken care of with Asian style interior finishes but maintenance and general upkeep really is lacking, it’s the ongoing R&M that is missing here 

Also a few things to note if you are travelling with friends and use both rooms - the entry to the villa is via the master bedroom and the second bedroom is up steep stairs from the kitchen and is fully exposed to the lounge area downstairs, not good if you are two couples , and there is only one spacious bathroom with one toilet - additionally there is no air conditioning or heating in either of the two bedrooms - only exists in the lounge room - for this cost this is a real omission 

The pool is a real plus and in summer would be a real blessing and views from the balconies are sweeping and peaceful. 

This retreat could be a real standout and truly great with just a touch of re-investment and TLC
