The location of this hotel is great and the bed was comfortable but the noise was absolutely unbearable. I stayed in the “apartment” room which has windows facing the bar. The music was very loud until closing (around 1am) which was to be expected but what made things worse was the amount of noise the staff made while cleaning up and closing up afterwards - it went on until 4am!!!! I got hardly any sleep. Won’t be staying here ever again

Absolutely no sleep

The location is superb, the room is large. All the rest was a disaster. The room was dusty and smelled bad. There was a carton shoe box in the closet. Curtain rods were falling apart. There were stains on the walls, bulging sharp screws in the bathroom, rusty metal everywhere. The door creaked all night, WiFi didn't work and (drums) there was NO HOT WATER l in the bathroom!!!  There was nobody to speak to at the lobby after 23:00...This never happened to me in a hotel and I am traveling a lot. 
Wow, what a nightmare.

Dreaadful experience

Overnight stay to enjoy the weekend in Fremantle. Booked without any previous experience of hotel or location. More a large bar with rooms rather than hotel with bar.
Check in and key service from main bar. Room whilst fairly basic was large, great, comfortable double bed and ample storage space. Toilet, shower area small in comparison to room size.
Friendly staff throughout.
Ideal location for markets and other bar / restaurants if required.
Not sure you would get a better deal in the locale...$100 for a good, clean, comfortable room, steak dinner with a few bottles of beer.
Key drop departure.

Only negative was i couldn't find any staff in the morning to leave my bag for a few hours, so suggest you make arrangements the previous evening if you require this service.

Would stay here again based on this experience.

Fantastic Price

The hotel in it self was an old hotel well furnished and lots of charm that where it ends. The rooms were small you could smell cigarette smoke coming from door stairs. Loud music and noise until after midnight. No lifts up to the rooms which made it hard to get to with heavy cases.  Not suitable for people with a disability. The rooms have shared bathroom only a couple with on suites. The shared bathrooms have no where to put your toiletries on.The  showers  have curtains not in closed which let water out onto the floor which make it hard to get dressed without getting your clothes wet one of the shower had no soap holder it at all. 
The dining room does not have breakfast service for guests. 
The hotel could be so much better if a bit more thought and care was put into these facilities.

Over night stay

So she wants to check out cheap parking in Freo. I note the proximity to The Federal and a plan is made. The ambience is Singapore/ Aus and the central court is brightly lit as we settle in for drinks ($8 pints on Sunday !) She orders the prawn pizza and I plump for the Sunday roast. The pizza is as expected and delicious. Here I must take issue with the roast which in most aspects was pleasing but the meat as served was disappointing. Full of inedible fat whilst well cooked more care needs to be taken in the serving.The Yorkshire oud was a delight. Check it out soon

Sunday lunch

We celebrated my 60th with a function at the Federal upstairs at Herberts Bar. We were so impressed with the professional and persoal approach by not only the Functions Manager, but all the staff we dealt with. They were extremely polite and helpful. The set up of the function room, the amazing food and excellent service all night couldn't be faulted. While the accommodation rooms are not flashy they are fine for what you pay. Congrats Federal Hotel staff!!

Birthday Celebrations

Nothing fancy about the rooms - they could do with some modernisation but they do the job. The bar and restaurant are both excellent and look wonderful. The location in the middle of Freo high street is fantastic. For the price its great.

Great Location

Great bar and restaurant however the the hotel rooms are awful - yes, you pay for what you get and I wasn’t expecting a lot however the room was tatty and dirty, stains on the sheets and holes in the duvet. The bathroom smelt, the shower was filthy the description said it would have tea, coffee making facilities. There were none. I complained to staff but they were not interested. I have paid the same price but stopped in better 

Great bar but .....

Went tonight, first time back for quite a whole due to work. As usual, bought the special which includes as free pint, so 17.50 was a steal. Top quality food as always.  Compliments to the chef. Cute, rocking bar chick even insisted on bringing my pint out to the room I was at because I was all set up pigging out on my meal and doing the punt thing. Now that's bloody service.   This hotel continues to improve.  Eat here every time.  Never ever had a bad meal. TAB is another reason I visit here. Theyve got a beer garden as nd pool room. Never been on a Fri or Sat night but i know most nights theyve got something on. Tonight was quiz night.

Pretty much my local

11 of us had lunch here recently and every meal lacked taste we were all very dissappointed with our meals. The only positive is the Bar staff were very friendly. won't be back. I was told The Federal was owed by the same people who own the South Beach Hotel which we go to on a regular basis so I assumed the food would be to the same level as the South Beach unfortunately i was wrong.
