Casuarina web page leaves to the last a little fact about a damage deposit and goes to great lenghts to get before giving the entry code and will not return it until at least 5 days after departure, what a cash grab by Hunter Valley Stays.

Birthday

Stayed here a couple of weeks back for my birthday... place looked ok but we had some major issues which I wrote about directly to the company who manages the property but I had no feedback from them whatsoever. We stayed at the Italian Bordello Suite and the water in the tub was yellow, don’t dare shower if you’re taller than 1.60mt because the shower was literally kid’s size and I’d leave my valuables in the car as the french doors’ lock is pretty untrustworthy. Not worth the money. Such a disappointment 

Ruined my 25th birthday

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a great stay. We were in The Hunter for a concert at Bimbadgen. We stayed in the French Bordello suite, loved it, the room right on the end of the suites.  

Initially thought noise might be a problem as suites so close together, but honestly we didn't hear a thing from our neighbours, may have just been good luck, but happy with that.

Very clean and lovely on arrival. So peaceful being able to sit on the comfy chairs on the verandah and soak up the peace & quite overlooking the vines. Surprised by a lovely bottle of wine in the fridge which we didn't expect, Eclectic wine was the brand, loved it so much we tracked down the winery and went for some tastings the next day.  Great host and we are now fans.

Overall, this suite had everything we needed and will definitely stay here again

Concert Time

We have previously stayed in the themed rooms and loved them so we bought some mates along who stayed in the themed rooms while this time 4 of our group of 12 stayed in - La Petite Maison
We were very impressed. 
Plenty of room as its a 2 bedroom apartment. 
Full kitchen and lounge-room. 
En suites for each double room. 
Fireplace for winter and a good airco for summer. 
A veranda with views of the vineyard. 
Property was clean and airy.
Loved it!
A Day on The Green bus pick up is right outside the property.
A path through the vineyard led us to the rest of the group in the themed rooms.
Will definitely stay again.

The Casuarina Estate has obviously undergone improvements to bring it in line with current decor trends - and all kudos to the owners.  You can see the efforts made to work with what they had but there needs more work in some areas. We stayed at Hamptons Loft and the decor and furnishings were exquisite. Beautiful new kitchen. Once the owners renovate the bathrooms this will be an excellent property. Overall signs of rejuvenation on the property is obvious and with more customer support hopefully this will continue to bring Casuarina back to its former glory life.

If you scroll down the reviews on the Casuarina here on T.A. You’ll see a rave, 5 Star review from me right around this time last year. Well I don’t know what happened but somebody’s let that place go. Big time. There used to be a lovely couple running the place on-site. Met us in the car park, helped us with cabs, our bags, directions, restaurant recommendations. This year we paid $330/night for a 3 night stay and arrived to a ghost town. Pin code to access the Casablanca suite (which was lovely, no complaints about the room). The next day we returned to our hotel to find our room hadn’t been cleaned. Our towels smelled like wet swimming pool, the bed hadn’t been re-made and we were out of toiletries. We also had ONE roll of toilet paper for three nights. We called the number provided on the website. Turns out Hunter Valley Stays manages it now. We were told they’re “self contained apartments” and as such we don’t get fresh towels, linens and toiletries each day. Funny, because in order to be a self contained apartment the place must have a kitchen. These are hotel rooms. Not apartments. And how is a couple expected to shell out $330/night and use pool towels after a hot shower and then have to go buy toiletries? They sent someone to dump 2 toilet paper told on our bathroom vanity. Whoever that was, despite having certainly seen the empty shampoo & conditioner bottles on the bench, decided to ignore them, along with the wet towels on our shower floor, and left the room unfit to say the least. It was an absolute disgrace. We ended up re-using the dirty pool towels off the shower floor after drying them on the furniture outside. For $330 a night this is unacceptable to say the least. And don’t sell rooms as hotel rooms then not service them daily, pretending instead to say they’re self contained apartments. The place was deserted. We could’ve held a 3-day pool party there and charged $120 a head at the gate an the owners and management would be none the wiser. Appalling. It’s devastating really, because the property is beautiful & has so much potential. The word around town at the Cellar doors is that this mismanagement is due to a bitter divorce. Hate eachother, not your guests. Especially returning guests with fond memories of the hotel it used to be. The rooms are still stunning and fun. Management needs a kick up the backside & I know my partner who booked the room wouldn’t mind a partial refund for the complete lack of service we received. We won’t hold our breath. 👍🏼

What happened in the last 12 months???

We really enjoyed our stay at the Casuarina Motel Suites. It is advisable to travel early and stay at least two nights, as there is much to discover in Hunter Valley. It is imperative that you plan a wine tasting in a winery. The themed rooms are of different design and furnishings. It is not everyone's taste, but it is a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Especially in mind is the hospitality of the management. Very friendly and helpful. It is worth noting that there is no breakfast offered. However, there are some ways to have breakfast outdoors. Tip: take a glass of wine with the room and say the generous backdrop of the terrace.
