What a gorgeous place to stay. I had read other reviews and knew it would be very good, but was still impressed and surprised.
From the friendly and helpful staff to the accommodation, communal areas and gardens, the bar and restaurant looked great! Breakfast was delicious too. So much to offer and in such a homely setting. We will definitely be back!

Gorgeous seaside accommodation that has everything!

This is a quirky little B&B from the outside, but it’s a tardis once you are inside.

It sits on the corner of Campbell & Gipps street, with parking on either Street.

It felt once inside like being back in time at my Nans old house, fresh home grown vegetables in baskets everywhere, the old mismatched mats, old dusty pictures hanging on the walls.

We were greeted and shown to our room, which was bigger than expected on the ground floor, which comprised of a small sitting area, bedroom and on suite shower and toilet. 

There was no A/C but a fan kept the bedroom cool. The bed was comfortable, the room spotlessly clean with a TV on the wall. Bathroom toiletries were supplied.

There was a kettle with Tea & Coffee making facilities, A shared fridge in the lounge provided us with milk and we were able to store wine in it.

Outside there was a small garden with a “Shed” bar and seating. 

The Breakfast buffet was exceptional, all fresh home grown produce, even home made organic yogurts. As well as the buffet a freshly cooked breakfast was served if required.

On the weekend of our stay there was an old fashion car show taking place, coupled with the Inn it was like stepping back in time 40 years ago.

A defo stay if you find yourself in Port Fairy

Exceptionally Cosy little B&B

The boutique accomodation was lovely furnished with great attention to detail. We loved their big garden where we enjoyed a quiet afternoon in the sun including nice coffee from the common area. The breakfast buffet was great with a hot meal. The staff was very friendly & helpful. 
We enjoyed a delicious dinner at their restaurant.The restaurant only had a bar seating available which was rather tight for eating a three course menu.
We would have appreciated if they had told us that their portions are bigger than elsewhere & one main to share is enough. Everything else was perfect :-)

Lovely & comfy stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Merrijig inn. This place is charming and full of character, and staff are super friendly and helpful. 
This place has a beautiful inviting garden, lovely to sit in on a nice day with a book in one hand and a glass of wine in the other. They also have charming and comfortable sitting rooms throughout the property were you can sit, read and meet other guests. Breakfast was included in our stay and was amazing to say the least. It included continental and a cooked breakfast. We had dinner at the Merrijig restaurant and found it outstanding, food, wine and service was incredible. 
We only had one night at this place but after our experience will be without question going back for a longer stay. The only change would be to book a bigger room. They have a verity of rooms and sizes and we stayed in one of the smaller attic rooms. Although it was very comfortable it was tiny and probably more suited for a solo traveler. But as we were only spending one night there and didn’t spend much time in the room it sufficed. 
Hands down would thoroughly Recommend this place.

Homely cottage style accommodation.

This interesting, characterful, small inn is an absolute pleasure. Whilst some may find it idiosyncratic, this is a fabulous place to stay. Situated very close to the shore and a short walk into the town centre. Parking within a few yards. Staff are really helpful (we had a problem with patchy wifi which they managed to fix) and clearly enthusiastic about providing great service.

The bar is tiny but that only encourages guests to chat over a cocktail or glass of local wine. The restaurant is outstanding - menus change daily dependent upon available ingredients. The owner / chef grows and preserves fruit and veg. Storage jars are on almost every shelf. If the cheese souffle is on the menu, don't hesitate. It's sublime. Note you must book the restaurant well in advance. It's full every night.

Breakfast is again delightful. Freshly cooked bread, home-prepared cereals, preserves made in-house. The cooked breakfast option was a mushroom omelette. The very best I have ever had.

If you are driving the Great Ocean Road, try to make the Merrijig Inn a stopping off point.

Our room was extremely comfortable - a suite with separate lounge. Note there isn't a lift for rooms on the first floor. There are two guest lounges available with books and magazines plus a spacious garden.

Our “suite” was very spacious and very comfortable and, being just outside of the main building, was very quiet. The central heating had been put on for our arrival. Breakfast was lovely. So I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel to other travellers.
One slight criticism was that the served breakfast was not available until 8.30am by which time everybody was wanting to be served at the same time because they were all champing at the bit to get on with their holiday.
I would have to query though whether it was worth the 100kms drive from the 12 Apostles? Strictly speaking Port Fairy is not on the Great Ocean Road and if, like us people were travelling onto the Grampians or even back to Melbourne by the inland route, going down to Port Fairy adds quite a bit of mileage to one’s journey. Personally, I would have thought it would have made more sense for us to have stayed in Port Campbell or Allansford.
If one does travel down as far as Port Fairy then one really needs to stay at least two nights in order to see a bit of the surrounding area. We arrive shattered having seen all the sights along the Great Ocean Road and needed to be up and gone fairly early the following morning to be in the Grampians in order to do an afternoon walk which meant that we saw very little of Port Fairy


A very nice hotel

Excellent stay at a very individual guest house in Port Fairy. Exceptional evening meal with very friendly staff in particular Leroy who went out of his way to welcome us. Produce from their garden & the whole place had an unique old fashioned charm about it. Very good position for the wharf and shops.

Excellent stay in a great unique guest house with wonderful food

Everything about this Inn is like staying in a storybook. Comfortable and quiet room for a great sleep. Beautiful gardens, sitting rooms packed with books- beautifully peaceful. Breakfast was fabulous and the inn keeper is lovely. I would definitely stay here again.

Cozy Home Away From Home

Lovely place to stay on our drive from Melbourne to Adelaide. A very warm welcome, a nice spacious room that can only be described as cozy. Breakfast was great. Situated very close to town and the river. Would have loved to experience dinner but we stayed on a Tuesday and dinner is only served Friday to Monday nights. 

Would stay here again.

We stayed here for two night the staff were very friendly and welcoming 
The room was quirky and comfy 
The breakfasts were unusual but the correct word would be exceptional with lots of extra detail that made it memorable
The help yourself kitchen with goodies and those provided in your room made the whole stay a place we will never forget and always be thankful for the chance that took us there
