seal bay cottages at Kangaroo island from 2/10/2019 until 5/10/2019 when we first arrived at the cottages we had to open the gates to gain access then we whet to the reception to obtain our keys just to find out that there were no employees on the premises so after wondering around for about 15 min we found the keys taped to the back door of the house that had a sign (employees only) we were wondering around looking for some one to find out what was happening when we found the keys,, the restaurant had not been working for quite some time  and would not be opening anytime soon according to the woman who arrived about 3 hrs later
                      after gaining access to unit (A) we found that the front screen door lock was a bit stiff to operate and the glass door lock was missing altogether we got inside and it seemed to be reasonably clean until we checked the bathroom /toilet the tiles in this area were broken and twisted the floor was water logged , flexible and generally rotten and unsafe the whole floor flexed approx 15/20mm in some areas in the bathroom/toilet the tiles were proud in some areas and also broken with sharp edges
                   later in the day when the temperature had started to cool off i put the reverse cycle air conditioner just to find that it doesn't work at all hot or cold ,, the outside light on the porch  didnt work much better you had to hold the switch on for it to work or it would flicker or not work at all
                  on day 3 we were locked in the unit because the key did not work properly on the screen door so I had to climb out of the window and hurt my knee in doing so then go to the door and unlock it from the outside after i opened the door I had to repair the lock so it would work properly  WE WERE BOTH DISSAPOINTED  with the cottages and felt the Qantas had not done there homework at all the property is up for sale and from what we were told is that the owner doesn't give a dam about the property at all he just wants to be rid of it and doesn't want to spend any money on it at all

We booked into this accommodation just for one night. That was great luck, The cabins are more than dirty and the furniture is ancient. The bed linen was blotchy and I felt disgusted. The water pump for toilet was only operated once per every three hours and the owner didn't tell us before. The owners were rude and not apologizing. The coffeemachine was broken as well. Although we had to leave at 8.30 in the morni ng breakfast wasn't available. It seemed as if the owners wanted to sleep longer. This is the worst place I've ever been.

Terrible is not enough

We booked into this place three months in advance and the cabin was unavailable when we checked-in on the Boxing Day morning. Our experience was very bad to worse as they screwed up our planned 3 days stay in KI and made us to return to mainland on the same day due to their booking fault. Both the owner and the lady manager were rude, unapologetic, ruthless individuals with no idea what professionalism means in hospitality business. To cover up their mistake they offered to put two families of 8 people in one tiny cabin with a shared bed accommodation in their filthy, stinky, terrible hostel. They were unrepentant of their mistake and this place is totally mismanaged and a disgrace to KI. 

When I thought to review this place, I found that we were not the only one and others had similar experience with this place. A mirror image of what happened to us. Refer to the terrible experiences faced by others. 

Hence my advise to people planned to book into this place, please DO NOT book here and spoil your holiday plans. These folks of full certainty would disappoint you and they don’t care about you and your plans. Avoid at any cost !!

Avoid at any cost !! Not worth a try !

due to no availability on the island found this place to accomodate work colleagues and myself. The rooms were not made up and cleaned properly with no local shops around and with limited cooking facilities feeding yourself was difficult. On arrival the owners were not onsite and what appeared to be backpackers were running the place and not very well. Was told a bbq onsite so purchased food in town for cook-up to find a rusted non working bbq. Explaining to my colleagues we couldnt find anywhere else to stay for second night was distressing and if we could of hired a tent and sleeping bag would of. Complained to owner with little care factor which was nail in coffin.

Avoid at all Costs

We stayed over the Easter weekend for two nights and had a pretty comfortable stay . We had arrived pretty late on our first night and the staff and was very accommodating of the same ( although you need to tell them in advance if you are going to arrive late) . We did receive some negative reviews from a couple of our friends about the cottages but we did not have any issues in our cabin ! We loved it :)
