While the room was comfortable with air conditioning, it was very basic. The basin in my room had hair caught up in the plug hole. The woman’s bathroom was not attended to during my stay therefore it was starting to become quite dirty. I think a complete overhaul of the upstairs area is needed.

Tired and old

Cheapest accommodation anywhere - but you get what you pay for. The whole upstairs is in dire need of a refurb, but then prices of the rooms would increase accordingly. If you just need a bed for the night and a shower it's fine. Beds are fairly comfy and sheets and towels are clean, aircon and tv are a bonus. The kitchenette is hardly that though - there is no cutlery or crockery (maybe it's all been taken 🤔), just a dirty microwave and toaster. No fridge either. Still, for $55 a single room I won't complain too much.

Cheap Accommodation, Great Location 

Great retro accomodation, extra pillows would be nice.  The shower will improve with the upgrades but added to the experience.  Food 9/10, staff 9/10, ambience/beer garden 10/10, location 10/10.  Overall, just great.👍

We were served a disgusting undercooked pizza that was so oily the topping slid off when we tried to pick up a slice.  Sent it back to the kitchen and were given an equally disgusting replacement pizza that was as bad as the original.  Even the fries were over cooked and not appealing to look at. It’s hard to stuff up fries - but somehow they did.

When I went to the bar i was the only patron there. I stood directly in front of the barman for at least two minutes before he looked up from his phone that he was engrossed in to take my order. 

Will never be going back.

Disgusting food - poor service

We headed to Hotel Illawong after a referral from some locals. The pub did not disappoint. Sitting in the beautiful beer garden in the sunshine with the doggos a perfect way to spend a Sunday. Live music was awesome.
The menu was exceptional. The local seafood offering is impressive, we had the market fish ceviche, school prawns, mussels and heirloom tomato salad with yummy local stracciatella to share followed by pizzas. Everything was exceptional. Bloody Marys and Margaritas went down an treat. 
Thank you to your attentive staff Matt and Karina are absolute superstars. We will be definitely be back!

On holidays, taking a break from shopping, cooking and cleaning up, Hotel Illawong's Monday schnitty special, Taco Tuesday and Burger Wednesday are handy to the caravan park across the road. Drinks are good too. Hubby rates the  Tooheys on tap, I enjoyed the rose and pinot noir on tap... and you can't possibly enjoy tacos without a Margarita made by Kirra. Pleasant staff. Well priced. Dog friendly beer garden.

Recommend the weekday specials

The best parmi in Australia without a doubt. The chef should be an Australian icon… or a knight or atleast the president of the chicken parmi university. 

Big juicy piece of chicken perfectly cooked with a crispy crumb, tangy tomato sauce generous amount of ham, perfect melted golden gooey cheese. but most importantly the chicken was not smashed on top of the chips, it was laying gently beside them right where a parmi belongs. The chips were crispy and well seasoned. The salad was fresh and crisp and just the right amount of dressing. 

Bravo you are doing the nation proud. 

Fellow parmi connoisseurs should be lining up to eat here!!

At $110 you have an ensuited large room in a central location food and bevies at your doorstep! Barman very professional and friendly booked us in. Free parking outside. 100m from the river and 200m from the beach. Great value for money. We paddled boarded the river the next day.

Great all-rounder with lovely staff

Group of four of us went to the Illawong Hotel on Sunday and we were all very impressed. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The food way above our expectations. We will certainly be back. Thank you for a good afternoon
