A great location with excellent views. Our room was large but some furnishings are a bit tired. We had dinner at rooster restaurant which was delicious & well worth a visit. Our breakfast was also delicious. Room was a bit pricey compared to others we have stayed at on this trip.

The menu has three formulas with a choice of six to seven dishes per category. The formula with entrance, plate, and dessert is 55 Australian dollars, which equals about 30 euros. And it's a very good price ratio. The waitress speaks French. The setting is a little old, but the kitchen makes us forget about this little negative point. We'll be happy to go back there.

Very good restaurant with a beautiful view of the blue mountains

Quality is long remembered after price is forgotten which is the reason why we looked forward to renewing our acquaintance with this establishment. After making a booking, we arrived on the Thursday evening 27.12.18. Our immediate frustration started with our waitress who was untrained and unable to pour a glass of water without spilling it over the table. We all had difficulty understanding her English and had to ask her to repeat herself many times.  Closer inspection of the menu showed that much of what we had hoped to order was unavailable, mainly the traditional items on a normal French menu. Suffice to say, we left, without eating, very unhappy customers. The wonderful service and the quality of staff, previously enjoyed is no longer there.I don’t know why we would come again. Pity.

Eagerly anticipated, sadly disappointed

Having had lunch there in 2014, I had so enjoyed this establishment, its staff and its cuisine that I wanted to return this month of November 2018 and I was not disappointed. The reception is still as pleasant, the attractive card, the delicious wines. Having not stayed at the hotel I can only comment on its restaurant. I recommend this little corner of France lost in the Blue Mountains.

A charming French restaurant

The star of the show at this place? Definitely the building itself. 

Jamison Guest House is an extraordinary Edwardian architectural feast for the eyes that will probably leave you wanting to do a bit of exploring. The interiors look pretty well maintained too, with ornate high ceilings, wooden staircases full of character and matching furniture to round out your turn-of-the-century experience. The bathrooms have been tastefully renovated, though, so you can still enjoy a modern shower. The bed was very comfortable, and, despite the sub-zero temperatures outside, the heating was exemplary. We had to actually turn it down as it was a little too hot inside.

Breakfast was included, and was certainly more than adequate, although the menu is not particularly expansive. I'm told the French restaurant on the ground floor is spectacular, but we unfortunately didn't get to dine there.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, particularly as we were not able to arrive until quite late in the evening. They were willing to have a chat despite being busy, and gave us some good advice at breakfast.

The location is a bit off the main Katoomba drag, so those arriving by train will have a short, fifteen-minute walk. Plenty of street parking exists for those driving. Once you get there, though, what a view of the Jamison Valley! Sitting on the first floor balcony and taking in all the morning colours across the natural expanse was breathtaking.

So, gold stars all 'round. Anyone who appreciates an architectural hundred-year-old adventure should definitely check the Jamison Guest House out.

An Edwardian Masterpiece

Having visited France every year since 1996, this institution never disappoints. 
It reminds me so much of what one would expect to find on the other side of the world. Have made the annual trek to Jamison House since 2007, and despite the takeover of new management for the last six years, this place keeps improving. 
It’s like escaping to a dining room in a quaint and cosy Pyrenean village. The list of choices on the menu is superb. We had the best escargots you’re likely to find in Australia. Other dishes from our group of six included Two Way duck, crispy sucking pork, seared beef rib shank and yellow fin tuna all dishes were at their freshest and finest best. Congratulations to chef Jean-Francois, his staff led by the brilliantly knowledgeable Jenny. As we always have done, we staggered up to our beautifully presented. rooms after a five-star meal. Trying very hard to find a fault but it’s impossible. 

Outstanding!

Jamison Guest House was the perfect choice to accommodate our visitors from overseas. The view is extraordinary and the rooms were tastefully decorated, cosy and clean. The weather can be pretty chilly in the mountains in July however, once inside you will be delighted to find a wood fire warming the restaurant downstairs and the heating switched on warming your room upstairs. The bed was comfortable and the linen divine. Great location, close to the town centre and you can easily access walking trails and attractions. We had a wonderful stay! Thank you!

Quaint and cosy!

Katoomba in the Blue Mountains does not seem to be the best place to look for a quality French restaurant, because yes, Jamison offers excellent French cuisine, relaxed atmosphere, live music, that is, Paris on the antipodes, a privilege.
