Highly rude staff, forget to provide amenities and blame you for buying your own. Asked to repair my window (it did not close. I had no privacy). They untangled them and left them. Still didn't close.

Target and berate people for not attending suppers (which are NOT compulsory by the way), Unsypathetic towards my health issues.

I recently moved into a room in UNSW Village and found it ok at first, however as time went by I realised how much I hated it. The kitchen is infested with flies and stayed that way no matter how much I tried to clean it. The floors are very dirty, with paint drops, stains and other unvaccumble things. Bathrooms are ok, however if you have a messy room mate it becomes very irritating living in such filth. The contract is also very stupid and begins charging at a fixed date, one which I wasn't even therefore. Furthermore, my contract is unescapable and I have to pay rent for the whole year not matter what. One thing that is nice about the campus is the Fig Trees, however they do make a big sound when figs fall and hit the roof. There is also a lack of culture, for instance I didn't even get to see my two other room mates until a week in. The events are also lame and it seems as though no one goes to them despite there being so many people on campus.

Don't move here

Worst policy ever for on campus accommodation. They charge cleaning fee whenever they feel like it and the place was not clean when we moved in anyway. Very bad overall and I would recommend avoiding it at all cost.

Very bad student accommodation

Stayed here for 2 years for my studies, terrible quality, management is non-existent unless they’re trying to money grab. Cases include compilsory internet fees, abysmal cleaning services due to “failed” inspections that consider personal/aesthetic effects and decorations as “dirty”. Internet is unstable and laundry never works when you need it to, lifts either smell of alcohol, body odour, or some sort of dead animal. Would not recommend.

Abysmal

I've been living at the UNSW Village for a couple of years and it just gets worse. There is a complete disregard for the wellbeing of the residents and they are basically seen as someone to take advantage and make profit of. Residents are students and they are forced to pay unreasonably high fees but seem to have very little rights.

Disregard for the wellbeing of residents

I have lots to discuss about UNSW village as I have lived for one semester before I decided to change a place to stay. I live in six people room type where the wall between each wall is paper thin. One time I even got into a fight with roommate because I open a music a slightly loud (which he always open so loud, but I didn't tell him to turn off or thing). Bad roommates can mean hell for you. The toilet door lock doesn't function properly (funny thing is it designs to be that way). Often time I find my roommate open the locked toilet door since it is so easy to open (that actually happened twice)... It might be good if you live with someone you are familiar with, but that wasn't the case for me. At one point I even found a cockroach due to an unhygienic roommates and other time they decided to throw a party at 3 a.m. (I was so mad during that night). Some of the receptionists are quite rude and can't even do the work properly).

Bad place to stay

Not my first visit to Mamak Village but my first review. I've has something different each time and can say they have all been very good. This time I tried the Nasi Goreng Kanpung. Nasi Goreng with fried chicken. The chicken is similar to southern fried in style with an excellent flavor crispy skin. Good value flavorful food in a nice atmosphere.
