What a place! We stayed here with our kids on our way up the coast & loved it. Rooms are beautifully styled, very clean & have super cute touches for the kids. Pub meals were 10/10, we both had the lamb shanks & couldn’t fault them. Amazing! Staff were super friendly, helpful & up for a chat & the huge play area was our lifesaver. Why don’t more pubs have these??? We’ll be back & we’ll be telling all our friends. Do yourself a favour & get to the Tea Gardens Hotel!

Great lunch.  Highly recommend 👌 made feel very welcome.  I will be going back take the ferry from Nelson Bay to Tea Gardens.  See the dolphins enjoy the water ways. Very relaxing.  Will not break the bank. Great for people of all ages. Ferry is very informative 👌 

Great day out

Friendly staff especially the lady who served us in the restaurant. Even though the place was busy the food came out fast it was beautiful we ordered 6 meals all came out fresh and hot. Very well priced. The garden and play areas were a hit with the kids.

Great food

Older style motel attached to the club which makes it very convenient for meals.  Very peaceful away from the main road and by the riverside.  There is a big grassy area outside the rooms which is a nice outlook.  Beds are comfortable. The room is a decent size and the shower was great.  Nice place to stay in beautiful Tea Gardens.  We arrived late so they left a key out in a safe which was convenient.

we come up here once a year for fishing and the pub is just the best.  they have a bus that will pick you up and take you home . how good.  the food is above average and plenty to choose from.  good for families with kids, plenty of room.  great place.

Value for money.  Clean, quiet, renovated rooms. 100% will stay here again. Right on the water, so convenient for a relaxing stroll. The children’s playground and beer garden is in the centre of the rooms, perfect for parents travelling with kids, sit back with a beer as the kids wear themselves out.

Clean and good value

A Tea Gardens institution, this old pub sprawls along side the Myall River. Its a popular local spot, with a nice beer garden and a large covered outdoor area out the back. The best feature is a regular Thursday night trivia, enthusiastically run by the publican, Ben. In holiday periods, it’s so popular that you need to have dropped by earlier in the day and have booked a table.
The interior of the pub was given a considerable spruce up when the pub changed hands several years ago and the ‘Goldfish Bowl’ room and bistro are now pleasant spaces to sit. The bistro food is pub-grub style and if you stick with pub classics, you will probably be OK (see seperate reviews on the bistro). On the plus side, it is open 7 days a week and does $15 specials Mon-Thursday.
Overall, this is a classic local pub, with a nice, friendly atmosphere that reflects the pub owner’s warmth and hospitality.

We stayed 2 nights for New Years, great atmosphere, great hospitality, excellent service, staff were always friendly.
Cheers to Ben for having a team of staff who respect their workplace and the patrons they serve, not to mention the ones that will send me the clothes I left behind!! :) :)

New Years Festivities

We visit this pub fairly regularly. A few years ago it changed hands and the new owner has done wonders. It is a gorgeous place to visit. It’s in a beautiful location right on the river and the new fitout is totally in keeping with a chic nautical theme. The place is always lovely and clean and a delight to visit. The new owner is passionate, kind and really goes above and beyond to care about the customers experience. He even personally hosts the weekly trivia which is loads of fun! 

We were lucky enough to have a small event here in April in the dolphin room and and found the functions staff very responsive and we considered it to be good value for money. We will certainly be recommending it to friends for functions. 

If you’re stopping bye don’t pass up the pizzas or the special herb bread, the chef making them is great and they are really tasty! The cocktails aren’t bad either ;)

A total gem! 

While holidaying in Port Stephens we decided to get the boat over to Tea Gardens.  While on board our captain told us that the pub was good for lunch.  He recommended the fish and chips in the cone, we had this and it was delicious.  It was lovely sitting at a window seat looking over the water with a wine.  Highly recommend.
