From the moment we arrived I knew we picked a winner.  The wonderfully warm welcome from Sue and Kevin was just the start of a much needed long weekend of absolute relaxation.  We opted for the package with most meals and massages and we weren't disappointed.  There's a full kitchen to self cater but the fab french inspired food was delicious. Especially the blueberry pancakes - yummo! 

The property is tucked away next to Thirlmere Lakes - and only a short drive to Bowral. Best of both worlds.  There are only two villas but with meals delivered we barely saw the other guests which suited us fine. 

Our Mediterranean Villa was gorgeous - lots of interesting curios and comfy daybeds - perfect to read a book and being the middle of winter we loved the pot belly fire.  

The gardens and grounds are delightful, complete with resident duck and French chooks who came to visit regularly for anything we hadn't scoffed down - which wasn't much. 

Sue's massages literally swept away the stress and we didn't even need to step outside the villa as the massage room was within it with yet another French inspired outlook.  Devine. 

An absolutely perfect long weekend and we can't wait to do it again. Thanks again Sue and Kevin. 



Wonderful hidden sanctuary 

I wasn't sure what to expect, as we drove from Sydney to Thirlmere with my husband. We were celebrating our 6 year anniversary & needed to be in Kirkham on one of the days for an event the next day  for the show 'A Place to Call Home'. My husband had taken care of the booking & I am a stupidly fussy person, so I was prepared to be underwhelmed, but pretend to be happy even if I didn't like it. What we walked into was pure French heaven! The lovely owners, Sue & Kevin Thomas, greeted us with wine, champagne & cheese - while I checked out there own home, which was beautifully done. They told us about what to see in the town  & were warm & generous. They took us to our villa, with a running fountain & a hydrotherapy spa outside of it - there was also a gorgeous European wood burning sauna there to use, but unfortunately we didn't have time to use it! The villa was decorated so exquisitely, with every attention to detail - fabrics, paintings, furnishings, tiles, paint, books, beautiful antique bed & claw foot bathtub & a wood-burning fireplace  - WOW! Even a ridiculously fussy woman like myself was in awe!! We ordered dinner in & they made us a gorgeous 3 course candle-lit dinner that was unbelievably delicious! Kevin brought in a basket of beautiful local award-winning yogurt, fruit, jam & fresh croissants & butter for the next morning & then proceeded to tell us we would be having a full hot breakfast also brought into us in the morning!!! The breakfast was delicious & a work of art. I booked in a massage the next evening with Sue, as not only is she a fabulous Chef, Interior Designer, Painter, Sculptor, she is also a fabulous Intuitive Massage Healer. This woman seriously is a multi-talented interesting & fantastic person! It was sad to leave our little French villa when the weekend came to an end, but we will definitely be back!! I took so many photos, just to remember the detail of amazingness of the villa.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!!

We stayed for an evening after our visit to the brilliant 'A Day out with Thomas' at Trainworks. It was our sons 5th birthday and we wanted a wonderful weekend away for the whole family to enjoy quality time together. On arrival we were greeted with warmth and big open arms by Sue. Served with lovely drinks, including apple juice for the kids we were overwhelmed with such a welcome. Our accommodation was faultless and so comfortable. The fire and the breakfast basket were certainly our favourite treats but if you asked our kids, they would say all the animals (including feeding them), the cupboard of toys and the property adventures. Kevin and Sue are wonderful hosts who just want their guests to enjoy their getaway. The property is suitable for couples, families, singles and would be fantastic for a girls getaway. So many extras are on offer and i just wished we could of enjoyed more of it! Another visit perhaps  😃

Unique Haven suitable for all!

... to keep it for yourself!!! :-) To us, this is the best bed and breakfast in NSW (if not in Australia!). My partner suprised me with a Valentine's week-end in my hometown region of Provence in the south of France at "Le Petit Palais". Yes, you read well! This place is a haven of peace where I found myself imagining I was back home!! Only the sight of kangaroos jumping around and the sound of kookaburras brought me back to reality... We were warmly welcomed in French by our very generous and hospitable hosts Sue and Kevin, (true francophiles totally passionate about the French culture). They gave us a comprehensive tour of the property: her workshop (she's an artist) and the garden which is a real picture of the french countryside (a provincial outdoor dining area in the shadow of an oak, surrounded by french hens, rosemary and lavender...). We stayed in the "petit palais" : A self-contained 1 bedroom accommodation impressively decorated in a classic romantic theme. We enjoyed full privacy as it is located in a private rosemary garden with roman sculptures, a fountain, an estonian sauna and an outdoor spa. My partner took up the additional offering of a 3-course candlelit silver service dining experience in our villa. We were delighted by the quality and presentation of the home-made food. Our breakfasts were served to the same level of detail and quality. This place is not just a bed and breakfast. It's an authentic experience of the provincial way where you "let things happen"... Thanks Sue and Kevin for this memorable week-end and we look forward to our next stay!

Hush... A secret you don't want to share...

Once again I spent several magic days and nights at Petit Palais, host are warm generous they excel in hospitality. You can have a massage or soak in the spa walk on the property see the many Kangaroos or just sit under the oak tree and relex it's just lovely.
The host is and Artist so those a little bit more Arty can ask the host will give private lessons which is what i did amd loved it . You can even ask the host to cater for delicious meals to order. 
All in all it is a lovely experience whatever you choose to do , you will want to return it truly is a very special place.
