Do yourself a favour go elsewhere 
It is 100% unloved and probably should be condemned rusted out beams some cover with fibro so you cant see it boarded up stairs 
So unloved grass dead palms dead neighbours must hate it as on either side are immaculate lawns
On arrival went to see pool area around pool hadn’t been clean Bali hut falling down 
The BBQ works 👍

This property is in a really good location. And during a particularly cold winter, we were very pleased that the room stayed nice and warm. Our room was quite basic but spacious enough, and really soundproof - we couldn’t hear any neighbours moving about the building. The carpark is very tight, but beachfront location and close proximity to town are big positives. It isn’t shiny and new but it’s not terrible.

Great location, average room but still okay and has all the basics

We have been coming to these units for over three decades now - the location is wonderful if you want full beach access without crossing roads and a peaceful beach. The units are dated, but generally comfortable and well equipped (though our unit this time didn't have the hair dryer I expected to find). Great for self-catering and spacious enough to spread out in. Some strange things though; unit 8 is a one-bed apartment with a nice sea view, but the bedroom has no door! Didn't worry us but could be awkward for some holiday groups, or if you were wanting to put a baby or small child down for a nap. But generally a great spot for a relaxing break.

Fabulous if you just want to relax

A self catering apartment on the beachfront..no actual views from the apartment so you go out and round the corner of the balcony to enjoy the sea view. The place is run down and therefore expensive for what it is...needs a lot of renovation.
The kitchen has a stove so you can cook, as there's nothing around for eating out except a fish and chip cafe...cafe 66 which was pretty awful...worse fish and chips I've had in a long time....and no shops in walking distance. So, not a lot going for it really apart from a nice beach walk.

Location helps

I called this place four days ago and booked a room. I was told to confirm the booking as she was relieving. I have just called and got a very very rude woman on the phone stating that I had no booking and to call the number I called the first time?I asked if any other rooms were available and was told I had no booking. Shouldn't  be in hospitality if not going to be hospitable.

Rudness

Stayed for Christmas with family in unit one. Paid over $270 a night (expected this for Christmas) but we were severely disappointed in the condition of the unit. The dishes were dirty and disgusting, including the cutlery. We had to wash everything up before using it. A cockroach was in the kitchen the first night, and the floors were filthy. We had to keep our shoes on the whole time to avoid having dirty black feet!!! The couches were badly stained, and there was not enough towels for each of us. We were able to find a worker when we arrived to get an extra towel, however the office was closed up the entire time otherwise, with no worker or assistance in sight. For 3 nights you would expect some extra linen, but we had one bath mat which was disgusting after one night of 4 people with black feet from the condition of the floors! We found a baby onesie on one of the couches that wasn’t ours. We intended on having a bbq on the second night but the state of the bbq I would not risk my health to use it! Disgusting!!!Do the cleaners even clean the place???!! 

Positives: Wonderful location, and the beds were made neatly and sheets clean (thank god) (but dusty bed side tables). Not worth it for the gross unit. Yuck! I do NOT recommend staying here

Terrible - will never stay again

This motel is right on the beach which is just perfect for kite-based activities.  Managed to get under a kite every day that we stayed here.  With one minor creek crossing we were able to kite all the way up to the point.

Great Location

Have stayed at Driftwood many times. Used to be great. Excellent managers who were welcoming and were constantly making sure guests were comfortable. Although old then, the property and the surrounds were always clean and tidy. Now, sadly it is so very neglected. Unit we stayed in lacked even the basics one would expect. No longer anyone at all in the front office. Terrible entrance for new visitors.Pool full of leaves.Lawn overgrown . BBQ mouldy. Won’t be back.

So disappointed

New management took over just before we got there so things could improve; as a result our pre-payment was temporarily lost, there was no one at "reception" just a phone number to call.  We chose this place based on price as we were just there for one night to catch a ferry to Great Keppel so from that perspective, it met our needs.  
Pros: right on the beach, cheap, fully equipped kitchen, clean bedding, air con worked in bedrooms, small pool, bbq area
Cons: in need of an upgrade, quite time-worn, pool had clear water but a lot of plant matter swirling in the bottom (round pools tend to do that) so didn't appear a lot of attention was being paid to the place, a bit far from downtown so definitely need a car.

Perhaps worth what you pay?

Stayed here for one night. ...on initial inspection it looked fine.  We were late arriving and went straight to the beach for a walk and look around.  The setting is lovely right next to the beach.  When we went back to the apartment we started to unpack and then realised how dirty the place was.  The kitchen, especially, the fridge wasn't even cleaned out,  dirty cutlery in dirty drawer,  mugs dirty in cupboard and pan not washed. We had to wash dishes before we could use them.  You could overlook a few little things but they were filthy! The walls could badly do with painting as there were marks all over them.  The toilet made a noise like it was filling with water. ...all night! The couch was so dirty with stains we didn't even sit on it!  My first question I asked when we were booking was did they have wifi and was it good?  I was told it was when in fact we couldn't even get a signal, that was unless you were standing outside the office which I had to do.  The office also closed early in the evening so there was noone to voice your complaints to. This place could be lovely if it was just cleaned up.
