Gasthaus Blaue Traube is a place to avoid!
The hotel building is very old, small and dark. 
Check- in was a bit painful because nobody was there so we had to go into their restaurant and find anyone who spoke English. We were finally checked in but had to carry our very heavy suitcases up several flights of stairs with no help at all. The room was very dark, old and the decor was beyond outdated. The room was very simple and depressing, and smelled smoky, due to people (including management) constantly smoking out in the backyard area near the rooms' open windows. The restaurant offerd food that was tasty and plentiful. All menues were in German only, but one server was able to translate the menu into English for us.

Not a good experience

It's 2019, and I've lived here for a number of years. Each time a new owner takes the place over, my husband and I give it a chance. Sadly, we even gave it two chances this time, thinking it may have been a one-off. We even brought our own high chair as they hadn't had one the first time- and any new parents know what a meal without is like.  Second time round, we went for a big family meal, with 28 of us. Some of us were able to eat, pay the bill and consider leaving before others had even had a starter.  
I had a soup with chopped savoury pancake strips (Fritattensuppe) which was a packet soup style taste, with soggy strips. Every place over here has to be able to serve a decent Fritattensuppe.  My "chicken salad" (or "chicken on salad", as the menu stated) was the saddest ordeal in history. It was grilled and marinated chicken breast, on chopped up iceberg lettuce with a dressing...and two slices of toast on the side. Pretty tasteless, and slightly embarrassing. My husband's schnitzel arrived two minutes after his soup,without cranberry sauce or a slice of lemon(pretty much a given over here) and was, again, terribly bland. His words- "thank goodness there were so many chips". 
On speaking to other family members, the ribs were cooked well but not seasoned or marinated, the battered vegetables were lacking any form of seasoning, portions were usually quite small and the general consensus was that everyone was still hungry after having eaten. Some of us (10) went somewhere else for dessert.  

All in all, a disappointment for the annual Easter meal (well, we did tell you so, Aunt So-and-So!!). When asked about a speciality dish (like Polish ravioli) and how it was made, the owner gave himself away, saying he was very proud of the dish from his home country, but he would have to ask the chef....which hinted heavily that it was a frozen job. His German is very poor, which makes it hard for locals here to commnuicate, as not all of them can speak English very well. 

Such a shame, as there aren't many restaurants to choose from in this town- and each time a new one opens up (albeit for a short period of time as a rule), we actually wish them all the best and hope that this time, maybe this time, it'll be a decent restaurant.

New owners (again) and the food is atrocious

We stayed there for five nights and were very charmed by the place and the little town.
The rooms are good and the bathroom/toilet is 100 % OK. The rooms are very individual and equipped in a very Austrian way.
Nice breakfast and good service. 
And remember to enjoy the lovely town, Bad Aussee. There is always a lot going on, at least in the summer time, but it seems that there is a lot of parties, theater, and concerts etc. all the year.

Gasthof Blaue Traube: Wonderful

the gasthof blaue traube claims to be the oldest house in Bad Aussee, and you can really see the ancient voult and massive walls. The location is just in front of the Pfafkirche, and they have a good parking area too. They are more spring and summer oriented, the reataurant in winter was closed. We got an apartment for the price of a room (not really cheap but reasonable, 309 euro for 3 nights 2 adults and 1 child with breakfast), the breakfast was normal, nothing exicitng, the mistress is very polite and friendly. All in all avery good place to stay.
