Although the route is well-described, you can't rely entirely on the Navi, because the necessary input is somewhat twisted. The food is very good and, above all, plenty. Since we were there at Christmas, there was also a gala dinner. The individual aisles were far too short one after the other. As soon as one was finished, the next one came. Various Christmas poems were performed to paint, which were garnished with indications of the origin and marketing of the products used. Didn't fit or were disturbing. Even the knowledge of the wine (varieties and tastes) kept mixed. The staff was very fluid and accommodating. The room in which we were staying was quite large and furnished, and it has been used for at least 30 years. This is something that has been seen in use since at least 30 years ago.

Good '80s style food

I've been to the restaurant on recommendation, but maybe not the best day there.

More expected but solid

The restaurant is located a little outside Bad Waltersdorf. Only if you enter the Navi Waltersdorferbergweg 99 will you be taken to it. But otherwise the nice drive is also well described. The guest garden is actually greatly laid out, but on that day it was a little too fresh. Inside it was laid out comfortably, as it was the trend 20-30 years ago. It was clean in any case. The service was sometimes a little too fluid, that is, came to the table very often. Unfortunately there were no (more) some non-alcoholic beverages. The many portions were partly too much and partly too little. The salad bowl was filled by a crispy freshness.

Regional but not exactly cheap

I would recommend the place particularly to those, who are passionate for good food and the produce going into it.
The chef sources beef and pork from the pasture around his restaurant. 
Rooms are spacy and clean and quiet.

Friendly place on the countryside with a focus on cuisine

There is nothing to complain about, except for two small things about the service, which was very friendly, especially the food was very good and is also affordable at the level of a country house kitchen.

Price performance is correct

We came for lunch and were really looking forward to Backhendel, which is Styrian specialty of deep fried breadcrumbed chicken. When we came, there were only other 2 tables of 2 and a birthday party of approx. 10 people. It took a while until the waitress came to us. I have ordered my wine and we ordered the food. The soups we ordered were both very nice. Then came another waitress that they ran out of chicken so if i can order something else. Even though dissapointed, I order a deer dish (which was very good). I have reminded her that I still don´t have my wine. Then came the first waitress and brought our mains. I have reminded her about my wine (3rd time). She left. She came back few minutes later and asked what wine did I actually want... No comment. When we wanted to pay with a credit card (we specifically checked on their website), we got a sour face and comment that they would prefer cash. I said that we don´t have enough and that we would like to pay with a card. With a sour face she left to get the chef (and owner, I guess) who seemed to be the only who can work the machine and we paid within couple of minutes.

Overall, the food was good. But the service was shocking. The worst one we have ever had in Styria, which is famous for its hospitality and we are regular guests in the area. We felt so horribly unwelcomed. We were in shock all the way back to Vienna.

Perhaps it was just a bad day for the staff or perhaps that were stressed because of the birtday gruop (even though party of 10 ten and 3 waitrisses doesn´t seem to be like such a stretch).

Anyway - never again. There are much better places and cheaper as well.

An excellent price-performance, from the rooms and above all the kitchen, regional dishes, Austrian top wines, very friendly hosts, what more do you want?

Really good.

We have chosen this facility to visit Styria and especially its spas. The gasthof is decentralised compared to the small village which however does not reserve any interest. The room they have assigned to us is large with an equally large bathroom with shower and sink.Clean as the Austrian standard has accustomed us.
