Firstly Brand is a beautiful village in a secluded valley near the Swiss border. The hotel is positioned in an ideal place near the village centre. The post bus and Spar are a two minute walk away. 

The main reason there are only a handful of reviews for the Landhaus Sonne on Trip Advisor is due to the fact the vast majority of guests are German and their reviews are placed on the german equivalent website Holiday Check.

The hotel is small and very well run by the young owners Phillip and Tamara who are both very friendly and helpfull with information about the area and daily weather forecast. The couple speak fluent English and immediately make you feel very welcome and enjoy conversation. We enjoyed the informal chats every evening. The rooms are very clean and spacious, service is carried out by the hardworking and lovely Maria who also carries the luggage upstairs for you. We had a balcony room which was given to us on request, most rooms do not have this. There is loads of storage space and an excellent free WiFi connection. The food served up can only be described as excellent with a nice buffet spread in the morning with Phillip handling any requests for hot food. He conjured up a wonderful omlette for myself on a regular basis. The evening meal consisted of four courses with a choice for main including a vegitarian option. The presentation, taste and portions could not be faulted. A choice of selected wines were also available.

We would highly recommend this hotel for its comfort, homely feel and first class service and catering.

Super little family run hotel. Excellent food prepared by the talented chef and owner Phillip. Best food we have ever had anywhere in Austria!  The hotel is in a very good location right in the centre of the lovely village of Brand. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend Landhaus Sonne as an alternative to the larger hotels and will definately stay here again if we ever return to Brand.

Great little hotel !

We wish we were staying a week rather than just a few days. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff are warm and friendly. We recommend eating dinner at the hotel. The food is excellent. A real treat. We would be happy to come again. 
The area is charming with plenty to do locally. 



Wonderful

A previous reviewer remarked that the Hotel Sonne made a nice change from the large hotels that one is usually offered by holiday companies. I have been visiting Austria for many years and have stayed at some large very well appointed hotels in the Tirol. They have all been lovely, however, this small family run hotel is something quite special. It is built in the traditional Alpine style, the rooms are comfortable and most important for me there is free and fast internet in the rooms. 
The hotel is in the middle of the village. A small Spar shop is round the corner and the cable car station is just down the road. 
I came for the walking and I was not disappointed. Phillip and Tamarra who run the hotel are very friendly and attentive. Dining is a set menu. Phillip who prepares the food is a superb cook and I am not exaggerating when I say it the best I have tasted in Austria. 
On the day of our departure our holiday company screwed up our taxi to the station and Phillip stepped in at a moments notice and got us to the station on time so we did not miss our connection. For that I am very grateful.  
Brandnertal is a beautiful valley and when I return as I assuredly will I will stay at Landhaus Sonne.

A Little Jewel Of A Hotel

I cannot fault this beautiful family run hotel. The drive from the motorway along winding and climbing roads was spectacular.  We were warmly welcomed by Tamara and shown to a charming traditional room with a large bed and a balcony with beautiful views of the mountains.

Dinner is a 4 course set menu with a choice on the main course (it was either fish or pork) and it was really tasty.  Tamara's husband is in the kitchen and produced a delicious chocolate tart which was exceptional.  The meal was a very reasonable 16 euro.

Breakfast was a buffet with local cheeses and meats, tasty bread and homemade jams.

Nice little village to wander around and a very scenic area so worth a detour on our drive back from Venice to the UK.

Fantastic find.
