We have stayed in Veitenhof several times over the past years. There has been consistently high standards of hospitality, with great food and a friendly welcome at all times in this wonderful family run hut. The location is approximately 30 minutes from the start of the walk into the Kaisertal valley, so a great setting off place for a tour. The Veitenhof combines the true feeling of being in a hut far into the mountains, with great creature comforts of cosy beds, warm shower, and a breakfast platter which is second to none and will set you up well for your walking.There are also kids games and books, and a high chair for the little ones. There are also occasionally special dinners and breakfasts. We participated in one celebrating the harvest festival which left us stuffed with wonderful traditional Austrian fare. The food is locally sourced, organic, and freshly prepared.

We originally stayed in the Veitenhof after the neighbouring Pfandlhof cancelled our reservation at no notice, which turned out to be good luck as we would now never consider staying anywhere else on our trip to the Kaisertal. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Hospitality in a Perfect Location

We are just about to book another stay at this wonderful mountain guest house in the traffic free Kaisertal above Kufstein in Tyrol.
I stayed here last year with my 2 teenage children on a geocaching adventure which involved finding over 200 caches and walking over 80km spread over 4 days.
My emailed enquiry was answered promptly and in good English, despite, as became apparent during our stay, the proprietor having to take his laptop out onto the balcony and lean out towards the valley to pick up internet connection! Subsequent queries were also dealt with promptly and helpful information allowing me to plan our trip was gleaned. I was unsure as to where to leave our car with 3 bikes locked to it, safely, in the valley but I was given good information on where to park.
Locals hike 30mins up the traffic free Kaisertal just to eat breakfast here…a delicious spread of cold meats, cheeses and breads taken on the balcony with its wonderful views.
We purchased packed lunches for our walks and nothing was too much trouble…..we said we did not want sausage and before we knew it eggs had been boiled for us instead!
We stayed again on the return from our first 40km hike around the Kaisertal and coincided with a special meal which Otto was serving for the local Mt Rescue team. We were invited to make our selections from the hot buffet and sweet buffet before the Hoards descended and we all enjoyed a superb three course meal of local delicacies at a very reasonable price.
The room was basic but clean and comfortable. We arrived in a thunderstorm and were calmy welcomed in despite being absolutely dripping wet and having muddy boots! It was slightly annoying having to share the bathroom facilities, but at the price, we were not complaining!
We returned with my husband a few weeks later on another hiking expedition and called in for an evening meal. Otto recognised us and shared a complimentary Schnapps with us!
The hospitality and views from the Gasthaus Veitenhof are excellent ! Highly recommended.
