For our 3-night business trip and with meetings in Prambachkirchen, Naarn and Puchenau, the location was ideal.  The staff were very helpful, attentive and engaging and the food was great, typically Austrian and wholesome.  A good choice!

Good Choice Gasthof

Reasonably priced E72 with breakfast. Very nice comfortable room in an older building with typical German décor. Great restaurant, Bavarian menu and great breakfast, with cold cuts, cereal, yogurts, fresh bread and rolls.
Free WiFi, parking available.
The Hotel is very busy, lots of locals.

Small Town Hotel

We stayed in this hotel as part of a packaged, non-guided walking holiday along the Danube. On this week we were the only participants in the holiday.

We stayed in six hotels over the seven nights, with luggage moved between, and whilst the other hotels varied from average to very good, this stood out as poorly run.

On arrival, we were given a room overlooking Ledergasse, which is a narrow original entrance street to the old town centre, and the traffic noise both in the evening and morning was a problem . If you look at the hotel website, it is the room immediately above and to the right of the main door. Since there appeared to be only four other rooms occupied, somewhere quieter would have been nice, but this kind of overview seems to be missing here.

The room and bathroom themselves were acceptable- but it clearly needed people more intelligent and dextrous than us to get the shower to work properly. We think that this is something that hotels should have solved by now- we are in the 21st Century, when all is said and done.

The evening meal was fine, as was the service, but the waitress, when we said that we would be looking round the town after dinner, was most keen to tell us that we should take a key, and pointed out the rear entrance which we should use- even though we told her that we would not be out long.

All was made clear when we returned at 10.10, to find the Hotel locked, in darkness, and with no-one about!

Finally, at 7.10 the following morning we were woken by the sound of someone drilling a wall in the room immediately below us- so loudly that we thought initially that it was workmen with a pneumatic drill on the pavement outside- which would have been beyond the Hotel’s control. It was only when we came down to breakfast (which was average to poor) were we told that it was work in connection with “water”- which might explain the shower.

The noise was then stopped, but in a properly run hotel building, work should clearly not be allowed whilst guests are asleep- and this would seem to us to be the problem. There seemed to be no-one in charge, actually running the place. Apart from the Chef we never saw any staff over the age of 18-20- it gave the impression of being a hotel run at arm’s length, with guests treated as commodities.

On the plus side, it was clean, the young staff were amiable, and it is convenient for the town centre.
