We were with two families for the first time for a long weekend in the Alpking - and I can only recommend it: price-performance absolutely top! We had two separate rooms, both neat and clean and with not excessive but sufficient space. Plugs and light switches where you needed them, used storage space where you needed them, fit everything. Shows and toilets on the aisle - top clean. Community kitchen as well, well equipped and you can save yourself one or two evenings in an expensive restaurant. A nice living room, even in the evening with a bar where there is a superb, but absolutely sufficient next to bed. (Which makes sense, breakfast bags, Croissant towers and smooth towers, three times away, must be a nice place to stay in the hotel, etc.) We've already said: Everything is as nice as a place to stay in the supermarket, and everything is as nice as a place to stay in the supermarket, and everything is as nice as a place to stay in the supermarket, etc. We've been able to say: Supper-building, super-building, super-building, etc

The app. I can only warmly recommend Alpking. Great accommodation. Absolutely clean, central location right in the town with superb connection to the ski area (either on foot or with the bus that stops nearby). The landlords are very friendly. The ski area is huge.

Absolutely great holiday apartment.

Very recommended holiday apartment for anyone who wants to spend the summer with a dog in Ellmau. The location of the Alp King is very central and the Unterrainer family is very nice, helpful and hospitable too!!! The apartment is very clean and modern furnished.

Super central location in the village, good ski bus connection to the Hartkaiserbahn (Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser), well maintained 6-bedroom, ski room, kitchen use, Wi-Fi, raw living room, bright rooms. Service for a youth hostel / hostel very caring and friendly.

The 2015/16 ski season - Super for solo travellers

I was there for 2 nights at the beginning of April, the house was quite empty and therefore pleasantly quiet. Nice clean rooms, with bedding and towel very practical. Making breakfast yourself was okay, not very much choice but the most necessary is there; the rest you can buy yourself and store in the fridge. Store 50 meters further. Beds are convenient; what is missing is a small bed (on the wall) for cell phone/wake, glasses etc. and maybe a lamp per bed. There are enough hooks and bags for up to 6 residents. And then of course the great view from the living room, genius! and super central location in Ellmau, 2 min. I think, 1 min. to Billa Pre, 5 min. to M. and even a few more rooms for skiing and skiing, I even had a few minutes to go to several other restaurants and even a few more rooms like Kipski.

Super price-performance ratio with a few extras.

I stayed at this hostel in January 2016 for a few nignts. The purpose of our visit was Hahnenkamm-Rennen in Kitzbuehel. I travelled with my father. We are very satisfied with our time in Alpking! From the very beginning, that is booking the room in summer, the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We had some problems while transferring the advance payment as we live in non-EU country, but the staff was searching the ways to solve that issue and together we succeeded:) Besides, we received all necessary confirmations which helped to get a visa, detailed instructions how to get to the hostel and even valuable pieces of advice and weblinks concerning our overall route. As for the hostel itself, it is very clean, cosy and warm. Bedlinen and towels are just perfect. Beds, showers are very comfortable. Wi-Fi is good in the rooms, but even better in the bar. Of course, it is not a very calm hostel, as there is a bar inside. Parties go on :) But it was a "hot" race period, so it is OK and everyone has fun! Breakfast is included in price. It is good, but not rich. I would like to have some fruit, sweet pastries, eggs and sausages, not just sandwiches and muesli... But in a few metres there is a supermarket where you can buy a snack. The view from windows fully compensates for a very few drawbacks. It is just amazing! Wilder Kaiser is awesome! As for the hostel location, it is very good, just a few steps from bus stops. Though there aren't many buses to and from Kitzbuehel, a few early in the morning and even less in the evening... The last bus from Kitz to Ellmau goes at about 6 p.m., so we did not have a possibility to watch prize-giving ceremonies and famous fireworks after the race. We didn't enjoy the night life of Kitz, but had to hurry for a bus. I understand that it is not a fault of the hostel, but you should take that bus schedule into account while planning your rest... In general, I liked this hostel very much, especially because of its pleasant staff, cleaness and beautiful landscapes! It has adequate prices and is worth the money. Friendly hostel!

Clean, inexpensive, friendly - what more do you need? A trip over New Year in a shared room was fantastic. The hostel is next to a skibus stop and very reasonable pizza restaurant as well as being across the road from the local ski school. The family-run hostel is well worth a visit. Be aware that it is no-frills but 'no-frills' does not mean dirty and horrible. I am seriously considering taking whole family in future, certainly something I do not take lightly. Anyway, give it a visit if you want an affordable, clean and comfy.

New Year visit

I had originally booked a 2 night stay in one of the larger dorm rooms at the hostel, however, to my surprise, I was the only person booked for the time I was there. When my friend and I arrived at the Ellmau bus stop, we were greeted by an employee of the hostel who led us to their guest apartment in a nice home. The apartment was amazing, with really comfortable beds, a nice bathroom, a dining area, and a great balcony. Despite having terrible weather for our time, we were able to make the best of our stay with the hostel. I will definitely book with them again.
