The perfect campsite is in a lovely location, has good clean facilities, well kept and defined plots, flat ground and close to services and facilities.

Herr Stumpfer’s campsite has all these! And it’s right on the Danube with a fantastic castle 500 m away. 

Lovely accidental find and great for cyclists.

Perfect spot, perfect host

I went here with my mom for lunch 2 weeks ago. I'm Austrian but live abroad, so whenever I come home, I can't wait to eat my fair share of delicious Austrian cuisine. My mom suggested this place, but I have to say it left me kind of disappointed. 
First, the waiters were not that friendly. As an Austrian I'm the first one to admit that friendliness is not our strongest suit, but our waiter seems almost annoyed to be working, which left me feeling a certain kind of way. 
The food itself was definitely more on the pricey side and while my soup and dessert were very good, the main course (Eierschwammerlsauce mit Serviettenknoedel) was super super salty - I even had my mom try it to make sure I wasn't making it up in my head. My mom's fish dish actually tasted good, but I was disappointed that my main meal, which is a traditional Austrian meal, was just not worth the money.
In the end, I feel like I could have gone somewhere else were the food would have been less expensive, and were service would have been friendlier.

The campsite is right next to the Danube so the braver of you can swim from the adjacent beach including a view onto Schoenbuehel castle! The restaurant offers incredible food at good prices and meant we thought twice about cooking for ourselves on our backpacking tour. Harry the owner is very friendly and went out of his way to help us when needed!

Incredible food whilst you camp

Reached there by chance on our cycling trip from Melk to Spitz. 
It came on the way and we stopped for a chilled beer and lunch.
We were late for lunch but the owner Harald Stumpfer cooked me a cheese sandwich and a potato goulash for my husband.
It was yum.
But in the meantime i took a round of the resturant and saw it was a camping rest area also. 
Next to the Danube it is beautiful. 
Open serene land next to Danube where people can park their vehicles and come to resturant to eat. Proper showers and toilets are made for them. 
The ambience is just blissful. 
I would love to go back there and stayfor a day or two.

unfriendly, very expensive... it was storming so we decided to see howmuch it was for a room, when asking the reception, after a big sigh they pointed towards a information board, where it was noted that it's 93€ for a room for 2 people!! so we decided to stay in our tent after which we found out you had to pay extra for warm water in the showers and 2€ for 30mins of wifi! at the evening in the restaurant we ordered food without drinks and the owner came by to make a comment in the middle of the restaurant that we would have to pay for drinks even if we didnt drink (as a joke), i found this very disrespectful.
