This lovely quaint and quirky hotel was a god send on our journey travelling with our dog, through Europe, to get to our final destination of Budapest. The main reason initially for booking was because it was close to the motorway and ‘dog friendly’.

We stayed for 1 night, ate dinner and had breakfast.

The gentleman running the hotel (possibly the owner) was so entertaining and nothing was too much trouble. He was a breath of fresh air at the end of our eight hour long, car journey. 

Our very well trained, small non moulting dog Daisy was made so welcome too. It’s hard to know what ‘dog friendly’ really means. For us, I always hope that ‘dog friendly’ means we can enjoy her as part of our family with not having to leave her locked in up the bedroom. 

I worked hard training Daisy and socialising her. I also chose a small dog breed that doesn’t moult so that I can spend time with her generally in my life and have her with me when working professionally. Being able to enjoy Daisy as part of our family has proved quite restricting when travelling with her in the United Kingdom, a country of so called dog lovers, due to un-informed negative attitudes of ‘let’s just tar all dogs with the same brush’. So I didn’t quite know what to expect when travelling through parts of Europe. While I’m on this subject, I’ll just take a moment to stand on my soap box. Here goes - Unfortunately a very small number of dog owners do not train their dogs and do not take responsibility for their dogs behaviour or waste, which leaves the rest of us having to break down those negative taboos that have been created. So I’m always grateful when Daisy gets treated with the respect she so deserves. Please pass on: it’s not the dog’s fault but those of the owners and please don’t tar all dogs with the same brush as there are many other responsible dog owners who do their dogs proud and therefore make an environment where dogs are allowed safe and enjoyable.

Ok, back to my review, in the evening we ate in the restaurant and yes with Daisy happily ensconced under our table. The food was just as you would expect, good quality and delicious. I just had to have the Wiener schnitzel for my main! The local beer was delicious.

Our bed and the room: quirky, welcoming and very comfortable. The wooden sink and wooden bathtub a joy to experience. I’m not going to say more as I think the element of surprise is as much a part of this experience as anything else.

Breakfast was not disappointing either, plentiful with a choice of continental and cooked.

Travelling through Europe 

I stayed at the hotel early December 2015, with my wife, for 2 nights.
The hotel is located near the motorway and easy to reach. It has ample parking space right on the premises.
The rooms are spacious and extremely well kept with fine furniture and facilities. Of course, everything was spotless clean.
The breakfast was with an abundant choice of foodstuffs and excellent coffee.
The hotel is a short drive from Linz downtown, and easily reachable by car, or by public transport, there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel.
If you have children there is a nice playground.
Although near to the motorway, the rooms are perfectly soundproofed and the sleep quality is good.
The hotel features also a restaurant, but unfortunately I wasn't in the position to eat.
They sell homemade goodies such as jam and liquors, I tried the jam and it is really homemade.
The staff are very friendly and offer all kinds of help which was usefull for having a perfect weekend in Linz.
I can conclude by saying that I highly recommend this hotel if planning a stay in Linz.

A family hotel

Hotel is located within a 10 minutes drive to Linz. We arrive on a friday afternoon and all doors were locked and nobody to answer questions. So we had to wait until 3PM to register. Nobody was talking English so they had difficulty understanding us and find our reservation. August working in the evening and morning during breakfast time is the only person that talk English. Breakfast included in the room is excellent. One negative point Wi-Fi was only available in the bar/restaurant which is not very convenient.

Luxury family hotel

this hotel is just perfect. If you have a car, it's a nice option to consider. It's located on the way to the Mühlviertel, in a very quiet area but also extremely easy to reach.
the staff is super nice and friendly. The restaurant excellent.
Parking lot right next to the hotel and restaurant.

if you enjoy peace and quiet

Stayed at Wolfsegger again. The bar was not open. There was no water in the room or anyware else were there drinks available. The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. It's a good hotel if you just want to sleep but don't expect anything else. (I didn't have breakfast but in general this is good.) Otherwise, stay in Linz.
