we went for dinner and there were so many people there, the service was still OK, although slow and not too friendly, food was mediocre, but not expensive, if there are less people everything will be fine

Restaurant could be improved

I stayed with my young family for four nights in mid July. As a restaurant Gasthof Rausch would be good, as a bed and breakfast poor service drags it down. We stayed half board and were given the choice of two main courses a night. 

Our first 24 hours sums the place up for me.... We arrived mid afternoon and went to the "private beach" at Faaker See which we discovered is actually the public beach for the village and all of the b&b's there. It was packed. If you want a sunbed get there at 0800 (no joke!). We returned to have dinner at 1900. For our first meal we felt like an imposition and were told to eat inside (despite the 25 degree temperatures outside), but we refused. We were told that guests at the restaurant had precedence. Then we went up to our bedroom and realized that the main doors (and only ventilation) opened onto the terrace of the restaurant - very noisy until 10pm (including music from the early 90s). The rooms are relatively new but the beds creak with every move and for some reason they opted for a glass door that means the rest of the room is illuminated should you need the toilet after the children are asleep! Overall we didn't sleep too well, juggling the heat with the noise from the terrace. Finally, we woke up the next morning for breakfast (a bog standard Karten breakfast) and were told that if we wanted to sit outside we had to carry everything outside ourselves. After breakfast we went to the bikes and found that the only one big enough for our five year old daughter was broken. When we told the matron of the house she told us it was too much effort to get it fixed for us. In the end we asked one of the kind farm workers to help adjust another bike. 

I don't usually write reviews but I wanted to stop other families paying a premium for this place. My advice is to stay in a different gasthof and eat at Rausch. Gasthof Melcher is a great example of a Gasthof run with love and enthusiasm. 

Nice place poor service

I stayed at an apartment in Gasthof Rausch and really enjoyed the beautiful location and its quietness. The apartment was comfortable with balconies, a kitchen and a very modern spacious bathroom. The only thing I did not like so much are the carpets throughout the apartment. The service was very friendly and the food tasty. An extra plus is the access to a private beach at Faaker See.

Lovely place to relax

Wonderful staff, excellent food, clean and tidy, great for children with plenty of entertainment including pony rides, cinema and pets. Have their own beach on the faker See. 
No late night drinking, as the bar closes at 22.00
Well worth visiting.



Lovely Family Gausthaus

We stopped by for a lunch at "Gasthof Rausch" on our way back from Bad Kleinkirchheim.
It's situated few minutes from the lake "Faaker see" and 10min from Villach.
Upon the arrival we very thrilled with what we had discovered.
Charming hotel/restaurant with spacious children's playground and small zoo.
Everything was clean and neat.
The food in a restaurant was good (we had the daily menu as we arrived around lunch time) and the service was fast and kind.
Afterwards we want to children's playground, because the children were anxious to play and didn't want to take a desert right away.
The waitress brought us our deserts there without asking here.
We very extremely thrilled, we could eat desert in a garden and watch our children pay in a specious but also secure playground.
The next time we pass by Villach we'll stop there again for sure.
