Situated in Southern Burgenland near Heiligenbrunn this family run hotel is ideal for cycling, hiking or wine tasting. The rooms are of various sizes and have air conditioning which was ideal whilst we were there as it was very hot. We chose Uhudler type which was large, comfortable with sitting area and small balcony. The garden is well planned with a small solar heated swimming pool, lounges, cosy corner and children's playground. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a large choice of cold meats, cheese and homemade cake and jams. The restaurant menu offers regional specialities apart from the normal Austrian kitchen and also has a good choice of wines at a reasonable price.
The owners and staff and all very friendly and are always willing to give you advice about the area. A taxi service is also offered so if you are a group or a few couples you can all enjoy an evening at a local Buschenshank (wine cellar). Highly recommendable.

Peace and quiet

Hagensdorf is a charming little village -- underline and boldface "little", please -- beautifully laid out, with front lawns the size of most people's entire houseplots.  In the centre, the Schwabenhof, with comfortable and well-kitted-out and impeccably clean rooms (I stayed in the least expensive), a restaurant with just enough choice of dishes to let you be sure each of them will be well-executed (I mistrust forty-page menus; they mean that the dishes are bought in and warmed up), very good cooking, and brilliant service.  Lots of hot water for the morning shower, excellent WiFi, and what a treat my evening and morning here were!  Enthusiastically recommended.

Such a lovely surprise!

We were visiting relatives in Burgenland, Austria and stayed at the Schwabenhof Hotel for two nights.  It has very clean and comfortable rooms with a full European breakfast.  There is also a bar and restaurant on the premises, and a small grocery store next door.  We were very satisfied with the accommodations and the breakfast.  The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful.

Family run hotel in Burgenland

We were given a voucher for two nights and a candle light dinner. We ate a la carte on arrival here and the quality and range of dishes on the a la carte menu was excellent. The set menu for the candle light dinner was rather unimaginative but they did allow us to have an ice cream pancake for dessert rather than a jam one. Good wines including the regional speciality rose, Uhudler. Fairly good service. The breakfast buffet was mediocre and if you want anything as exotic as a capuccino, they charge for it separately. We paid a supplement for a larger room with a balcony, which was spacious, attractively furnished and comfortable. We appreciated the presence of mosquito nets. The balcony furniture was dirty and old but in view of the mosquito plague we didn't want to use it anyway. The hotel offers a bicycle hire service, which is an excellent way to explore the area. We would come again but would definitely eat a la carte.
