The room was large and cute and functional. The best part was the in house restaurant with ingredients grown on premise. The whole operation is family run with pride. For a getaway with local food and a cute place to stay this is one of my favorites on the world.

Delighted with cute room and local dining 

Incredibly friendly hosts, were blown away that I would pop in for dinner from Graz.  Food was great.  I took whatever they had cooked that night which was soup and then for main meal a selection of cuts, like wild boar, a small piece of schnitzel and some knödel.  Nice drive up, just regretted that I didn't go there earlier when there was still some sunlight.

What a super place to spend relaxing time and  forget all the sorrows of this world! The owners of the Jagawirt are super friendly, speak good English and are a dog (and people!) loving family full of useful advice, not only concerning hikes and outings. When our car broke down, they referred us to their local garage whose helpful and sympathetic owner proved a true blessing.
We particularly loved the food - all very fresh, with a lot of their own farm produce. Although there naturally are a lot of meat dishes on the menu, they were always happy to propose and prepare something vegetarian - the home made pasta was especially tasty. We also sampled some interesting wines, some sold by the glass. The regional speciality, the 'Schilcher', is a rosé wine of pronounced taste - a must to try! 
There is also a 'Hofladen', a little shop, where you can buy some of the products you sampled during your stay there - great for original souvenirs.

Magic and original in unspoilt surroundings

This is one of those places where you feel instantly relaxed: it is like going to gradma for a holiday in the mountains. Fresh air, idyllic setting, great food (although for Austria the portions are surprisingly small), lovely wine and very friendly owners. 
It is also very close to the motorway and Graz (20 minutes), yet right in the wonderful West Steiermark wine region, we have had some fantastic Schilcher wine there...in the autumn, there are also great roasted chestnuts from the nearby farm, really amazing! There are many opportunities for walking, hiking and skiing in winter...

We also love the vegetable garden, the produce is a very welcome addition to the guests' dinners.  
The rooms are very comfortable with charming wooden furniture. We found the high summer a bit problematic with the mosquitoes (there are no nets on the windows and no air conditioning in the rooms). There is also free WiFi. 
Jagawirt is a wonderful place to visit and we are always very reluctant to leave. A perfect place for a holiday!

My husband and I recently stayed here for 4 nights to attend a friend's wedding also at the Jagawirt.  The airlines lost our luggage, but as soon as we arrived at the Jagawirt, we were immediately at ease.  The staff went to great lengths to ensure we had everything we needed.  I have worked in hospitality, including a high-end bed and breakfast here in Vermont, and I have never seen such tireless, gracious hosts as with the Jagawirt.  They work SO hard; including until 3am at the gorgeous wedding, and frankly felt more like friends than hosts.  The grounds are stunning - overflowing with flowers and vegetables.  The Jagawirt embodies, and certainly pre-dates, the farm to table movement with every dish.  Hiking trails and vineyards are right out the door.  What a fantastic place.

Gracious Hospitality and Relaxation

Simple but pleasant accommodations.  Weather was warm and there is no a/c but windows opened which helped, but it is summer and this let in Mosquitos. Breakfast included and it was good, typical European breakfast food, eggs were available.  The food otherwise was high quality and tasty.  Surrounding grounds were wooded and made for nice walking.  Parking free and easy, as it is the country and there is space, unlike Graz.  Had a good stay of 3 nights.
