I had the best Goose I’ve ever had at this restaurant.  I went with my husband after a day of hunting.  The owners were very nice and hospitable.  I had a delicious salad for appetizer with famous local pumpkin oil vinaigrette.  My husband had Goose liver that he said was a little bland.  The main dish, however, was amazing.  The braised Goose was absolutely delicious!  This is a must have dish if you are in the area.

Having styed at the hotel about 20 years ago and remembering it quite fondly, but not having been in the area since, we decided on a whim to dine at the restaurant as we were passing through Heiligenkreuz. Fortunately there were a few tables free and although the two waiters had their hands full with two large parties, we were served quickly and with a smile.

The interiors are from the 1970’s but have been freshened up with a multitude of dried flower decorations, contrasting paintings/posters, and objects d’ art. It is a visual delight and can keep you busy for quite a while gazing at everything.

The menu specializes in dishes and ingredients from Burgenland. We were very happy to see typical dishes not normally found in restaurants. We enjoyed the sauerkraut/sausage soup, wild boar filet, and goulash. Our wines were also very good and we were thankful to be able to order them by the glass, as we had to drive on to Graz.

We plan to return to the Gibiser next time we are in the area as the dinner was a completely satisfactory experience.

Visual and Gustatorial Delight

You can stay in the main building or one of the thatch roof cottages in the back.  I did both.  The hotel is immaculate.  The staff is efficient and friendly.  The rates, to me, seem a little high for such a small area with no real tourist attractions, but they are still reasonable rates overall.  The convenience of the restaurant on site is a nice touch.  The Gibiser family has owned this property for a long time and take great pride in it.  It's a very traditional Austrian country inn - complete with staff in dirndls serving you, and fun to see all the visitors who come there from many locations - soccer teams, tourists, families visiting each other, etc.  You'll feel like you stayed at your nice aunt's place in the country.

For a tiny town, this is kind of their Four Seasons

this Gastof propose accomodation in the hotel, few rooms quite standard , or better in the back large park , in a green sourronding there are few very typical local contry houses with the roof made of straw, ideal solution for vacation..
the restaurant is simply excellent, the services are proposed in a very well decorated rooms, the food is excellent in quality and variety, last but absolutely not least .the personell is always kind helpfull and foremost smiling.....
