We stayed last week in this hotel for a skiing trip. The staff is very, very friendly. The room was big with good ventilation options. The bathroom was tidy but basic. For us it was fine. 

The breakfast comes with (free) Prosecco (Sekt) and a wide variety of food. The only negative thing (for some people) is that the hotel is on top of a hill. So therefore the hotel isn't easy accessible for disabled people.

I would recommend this hotel to families or couples.

Good hotel in real Tiroler style

We go there already 5 years in a row for a short ski to Ischgl. The owners do everything to make your stay perfect. The hotel is located about 5 minutes walk from the Silvretta lift, and close to the night life. Small walk up the hill, but in exchange you have a great view over Ischgl. We'll keep coming back for years to come.

Great hotel, extremely welcoming team

I stayed at this hotel for a week during January, skiing at Ischgl.

The hotel is located on top of the hill, just above the main street. The road up the hill is steep, as indicated by other reviewers, but is fairly short, and can be walked up in just 3-4 minutes, if you're in reasonable shape... Nothing to worry about, in my view. Of course, you will want to take a taxi up when first arriving with your luggage... 

The English speaking lady at the reception was quite welcoming, giving a short explanation of breakfast times etc., and provided me with a code to use the hotel WiFi (available in public areas as well as bedrooms) for 12 hours free of charge. This code is provided per guest, so you get two for a double room. When these are used, you can purchase additional hours at the reception.

My room was quite spacious and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of storage space in the closet. There was a small TV which offered a couple of English speaking channels (CNN, BBC world), and the Ischgl channel, providing useful weather and skiing conditions information, as well as live webcam views of the various peaks. The bathroom is roomy enough (unlike some other hotels I've stayed at in ski resorts). There was s small balcony too, though the weather was too cold to use it.

The breakfast was more than adequate for my taste, offering various breads, cereals and yogurt, cold meets and cheese, boiled eggs and fresh fruit. Coffee, tea and fruit juices were also offered by the lovely waitress, and you can also get eggs made to order, which I skipped, but other guests seemed to enjoy.

The hotel also has a ski room to store your ski/board and boots, but I rented my skis on the main street, by the entrance to the tunnel, so opted to leave my skis and boots at the rental store rather than carry them to and from the hotel.

Lastly, the hotel has a pretty nice SPA, with both wet and dry saunas, which are a real treat after a day of strenuous skiing. You can also get various treatments at the SPA, but I did not try those.

As to Ischgl itself -
The town is fairly small: one can walk its main street end to end in about 10 minutes.
There are lots of hotels, bars, restaurants, bakeries, delicatessens offering local products, fashion shops and a supermarket.
The ski resort is one of the best I've been to! This was my first time there, and I do hope to be back for more. The lifts are excellent! There were hardly any queues all week... The slopes are very well maintained and there was no shortage of snow. There are slopes for all levels, including a 70%  incline black run, which will both challenge and delight even experienced skiers. The "dutyfree run" towards town of Sumnaun, on the Swiss side of the resort, is very long and quite enjoyable when the weather is nice. Beware of the last part of this run, towards the entrance to Sumnaun, which is practically flat. On my skis I was able to "make a run for it" and get to town without pushing, but for snowboarders it was be a very long walk... 
There are plenty of refuges offering hot drinks, self service and full service restaurants, and all of them provide free WiFi access, which was a really nice touch. I found the prices to be reasonable (for a top class ski resort...) and the food quite good. I recommend sampling a couple of local deserts: Kaiserschmarn and Knodel. Both are very good, and large enough to share.
At the end of the day of skiing, many go to one of the "apre-ski"  venues on the main street. These are very crowded and noisy, but most people seem to like it... I preferred to end the day with a warm Strudel (another local specialty - both the apple and cheese filled variations are great!) and a hot drink. My favorite strudel place was the hotel right by the middle entrance to the tunnel, at the end of run #1. Yummy...

All in all, it was a very good week of skiing, and I enjoyed my stay at the Waldschloessl. If you're not afraid of a few minutes walk up the hill, I can definitely recommend this hotel.

Most welcoming hotel, up a short steep climb...

I booked a room at this hotel for 3 nights. After some emails, on the phone, the hotel gave me the confirmation of the room saying that he would sent a confirmation email. I waited a bit 'and 24 hours before leaving for my vacation I received an email from the hotel in which it was wrote that the room was no longer available. When I complained they told me in a rude way that I could not do anything because I had nothing written. Pay attention in booking hotels in Ischgl! They look at the tourists as money with legs

Go away

I booked last minute, and while the price was very reasonable for Ischgl,  I was worried about the location - since it is up on the hill, and I have knee problems. 

luckily, there was enough snow so that we could ski directly back to the hotel, and in the mornings we walked with our skis to the run and skied down, thereby not having to walk down hill with our skis in our ski boots.

The rooms were simple but clean with a great balcony - and always enough hot water.  The breakfast room was super cute with a nice view.  The staff was super friendly and while they didnt speak any english except for the hotel receptionist, they went out of thier way to help.  Petra in particular seemed to work 24 hours, and was everywere in the hotel - super nice and friendly, and very efficient.  

Once night I lost my key and in desperation at 22:00 at night I knocked on the door of the cleaning woman who sleeps in the hotel.  Even though she was already in bed, she got up and let me into my room, and was even very friendly about it!

And finally in regards to the walk up hill after a long afternoon of drinking and dancing on the tables,  it was a very sobering exercise :-)
