This place is named and run by the owner who is a constant presence. Very good value for money. Excellent food. Central location but just far enough away from the madness that is Ischgl apres-ski so you are not disturbed. But a short walk to the lifts and ski hire. Comfortable decent sized rooms. Family friendly. Staff attentive and care unlike so many places you go in the UK.

One negative you can avoid. Get rooms on the second floor or higher. Bar can get noisy and sound bleeds through to ground and first floor rooms.

This hotel has a lot going for it. It is in a reasonable position within easy walking distance of ski lifts and lively bars. The rooms are a good size, well appointed and very clean. There is a nice cosy lounge area with a bar and warming log fire. The staff are all very freindly, helpful and attentive and when we were there they coped graciously well with a faily boisterous pary of 10 guys (us). Unfortunately the owner Sylvia didn't manage quite as well. I didn't have a problem with her but she rubbed a few in our party up the wrong way (and visa versa) and also appeared to have issues with other guests. 

Back to the positive - the evening meals were excellent and served up efficiently in a pleasent restaurant area. None of our party sampled the spa area so I can't comment on that other than it looked good. 

All in all the Sylvia is a good place to stay, not sure I will visit Ischgl again but if I did I wouldn't cross the Sylvia off the list.

Comfortable and Covenient

This is a very nice hotel with a small, cosy atmosphere.  The rooms are excellent (as you would expect in Austria) and the food and service were both very good.  Close to the lifts as well, so overall just jolly good.  The only odd thing about it is Sylvia herself, who seems to want to be confrontational most of the time and gets upset by the strangest things.  Other reviewers have said that she added things to their bills at the end and we witnessed this with a party who left the day before us and were charged for some "breakages" that they all denied.  Having said this, it was quite amusing having a complete eccentric in charge, so no complaints.  I just wish they'd stop allowing people to smoke in what are really restaurant areas in Austria as I'm sure it puts people off - and how much were those gin and tonics?

Nice hotel with a weird owner

Overall, loved staying at Sylvia's Hotel.  Service, in particular, was excellent, and the rooms are very good.
Let down somewhat, though, when paying the bill at the end.  Sylvia herself had decided to add some extra charges, on the basis that "You did not spend enough at the bar!", and "Laundry costs triple what I first advised!"  Crazy but true ...

Sylvia

Just finished a stay at Hotel Sylvia. The hotel has limited Wifi (Only in reception area), but the rooms were palatial. The hotel is close to the local supermarket (Around 200m) and around 300m from the slopes. Staff were fantastic and bent over backwards to cater for our 6 month old and 3 year old. TV in the room takes USB and plays MPG and MP3s, but the cable only has one channel in English (Russia TV). Rooms were clean and surprising smoke free (Every one smokes inside here)
