A lovely VIP hotel with the usual good VIP service. Easy access to Lech and Zürs lifts on bus outside the hotel. Clean and attractive spa area. They even called me before departure to see if we had any special requests or occasion to celebrate.
Wine included with dinner makes it good value for money especially in Lech

Great Location and very well run

This review is written following a trip to Hotel Theodul arranged by VIP Chalet.  At present the hotel is managed by this company and not the owners.  

In thinking about this review I think there are 5 areas to consider.   Pre booking, the hotel, service, food and of course the resort itself.

Pre booking.   The process of booking and the interactions with the VIP team couldn’t have been better.   No request or question seemed too much.   I felt like I was a customer instead of a number.    All companies should be like this.  Sadly they aren’t.

The hotel.   I wasn’t precisely sure what a chalet hotel was before coming.   The reality is that this is a hotel.   The rooms are hotel rooms.  The chalet part is the way it is managed.   The rooms were clean, well laid out with comfortable beds and in our case a great shower.   Unlike some ski rooms we have had there was plenty of hanging space and shelf space.   My only minor criticism is that there was no kettle/coffee facilities in the room but VIP do bring you a hot drink to your room from 7.30 am.    A big thumbs up for providing soap and shower gel in refillable containers.  My latest bug with a lot of hotels is they talk about being green with respect to washing sheets but give you lots of little plastic bottles.   Some people have talked about wrong pillows or lack of bath sheets.   We asked for different pillows and bath sheets and they magically appeared.   If you are concerned about something then I suggest you ask whilst you are in the resort.

The service.   The staff was the biggest asset of VIP.  The ones that we met couldn’t have been more helpful and overall the service was excellent.   I understand there are 20 staff in the hotel so the ratio is better than 1 staff for less than 3 guests. Pretty impressive.  

The food.   We were really happy with the food.  Portions were reasonable but not excessive and frankly nothing seemed too much trouble.

The resort.   This was my first time skiing in Austria since I was at school.  We enjoyed Lech and the wider ski area and would be happy to return.

All in all we would be happy to return to the same hotel with VIP.

Lovely Holiday - recommended

We returned this year having had a very successful ski holiday last year staying at this hotel.
Have to say staff equally good, bright and friendly. 
The food and menu choices were excellent with interesting 3 nicely presented dinner courses, plus cheese board, teas, coffees and chocolates. Service was always with a smile. 
Ski guiding was really good with both Dan and Eddie. Loved our trips out with them and other guests. 
Easy access location in town, just a short stroll to the most amazing ski hire shop. 
Cannot see why we would choose anywhere else!

Return visit

We’ve never been so well looked after on a ski holiday (and it wasn’t THAT expensive). Guiding, all food (really good food) and wine are included. If you stay, ask for room 21, which is huge, and has a lovely bathroom. More than enough cupboard pace and hangers - yay! Staff also very helpful and friendly. We'll be back.

Best ski hotel yet....

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the hotel and in Lech which offered a very varied skiing terrain and a huge selection of slopes with the new link lifts. Despite the tricky conditions over the first couple of days, the hotel’s guide Eddie was extremely helpful in navigating the lack of visibility (and with restaurant recommendations on the mountain as well!) - thanks to him we had a great time skiing with others from Theodul.

Overall, the chalet hotel was the perfect combination of a friendly and welcoming chalet with the professional service and excellent facilities of a hotel. The only negative we can think of is that the position of the shower head was odd and made it awkward to shower.

The spa facilities were great and provided a much needed relaxation area at the end of a full day skiing. One suggestion we would have would be to include a jacuzzi /swimming pool in the central area to make the most of the space - this would be great for after a hard day’s skiing!

We were especially impressed by the variety and quality of the food and the extensive selection of house wines - the after dinner cheese board and afternoon tea selection were excellent as well! Adding (birscher) muesli to the breakfast selection would make it even better.

We look forward to visiting Austria and Lech again to explore some more of the region! 

Fantastic stay at Theodul!

As a hotel, Theodul is an excellent hotel with great facility. Although the VIP ski service was pleasant and overall experience from time of booking to return flight was excellent, I am afraid there were significant shortfalls that should of never happened. The most unforgiveable instance was the food being served cold or uncooked or over cooked. As many of the guest commented the kitchen was most likely ran by amateurs that were trying to pretend to be chef and had no clue as how to prepare and deliver food to table.
 
The second point noted, was lack of a smooth and seamless operation between VIP ski and telegraph team. We and many guests got the impression that the two teams had never met or discussed the details of the week plan related to the guided tours, which resulted in disappointment and confusion. It could have been so much better.
