Very beautiful cosy pension. The lady who works there is super kind and helpful and speaks good english. Very clean and comfortable rooms with a balcony with a beautiful view on the castle. The breakfast was good and tasty. I really recomend this lovely place to anyone, especially families. 

Great family pension

The Pension is just across the main road from Mauterndorf.  It is walking distance into town but why would you - you can park anywhere.  The Pension itself also has 3 parking spaces and an overflow arrangement on the other side of the road.  It's run by Margarette, an enthusiastic old lady who speaks not a word of English but takes good service to extraordinary levels.  We stayed over Xmas and she provided in our room a huge plate of fancy Austrian biscuits, a big tin of biscuits, a gift pen/torch set, a litre of (very nice) local herb liqueur and about 10 big bottles of beer!  Where most guest houses get upset if you try to sneak food out for a packed lunch Mrs Lasshofer insists that you take lunch, provides plastic bags and ties, and wants you to have some more when you get in as well!  There is plenty of hot water, good wifi, a decent TV, comfy split beds, a balcony/fridge and the place is spotlessly clean, although the decor is very 70s/80s.  If you were on a real budget you could pretty much manage the whold day on Mrs Lasshofer's definition of 'Breakfast'!  She gives you a discount ticket - but we had no idea what it could be used for!  Her only real rules seem to be that you must put the ski boots on the heated rails in the stairwell down from the hall and swap your outdoor shoes for slippers or sandals, of which she has a huge choice!  The room key is a pass key for the front door.  It's a very short drive to Grosseck (5 mins), maybe 10-15 mins to Aineck or Fanningberg and 25mins to Obertauren, any of which provide a good day of skiing.  The ski area is mostly used by Austrians, we heard very few people speaking anything but German, but no problem in the restaurants/ticket booths/etc.  Some of the bars on the pistes allow smoking and very few of them sell gluwein that is even remotely nice, only drinkable with lots of sugar.  We persisted but only found one in the entire week that did a decent gluwein.  The area was extremely quiet over Xmas, but everything was open.  It busied up over new year but still nothing you would call a queue at any of the lifts.  If you do get hungry there is a superb Italian restaurant in the town just up from the church called 1619.  Anyway, the point is that if you want a cheap place where you also save on food and drink, very well located for driving around the ski areas, then you can't do much better than this!

Great for budget ski holiday

It is well located in Mauterndorf. Walking distance to the historical center as well as to the castle. 
Pension is quite, somewhere bit old fashion but everything is clean. Lady who owns it is very nice and helpful. Speaks only german but you is able to explain everything to everybody. 
Breakfast is big  and lady even ask you to take some food with you away. 
Rooms are OK, some have a balcony.
