we visited the restaurant after a trip at the monastery. the personnel was exceptional helpful, explaining the dishes in english. the food was well done, tasty, but the most exquisite product was the strudel. home made, exceptional!

highly recommended

We were in town for a work event on a river cruise and stopped in here after a tour of the Melk Abbey. We sat on the patio so that we could walk other attendees from our trip walk by so that we could be visible for others to see us. We were waited on promptly and ordered our coffees. The coffees came out quickly; and it fit for exactly what we needed. We saw other patrons ordering food; and they seemed to be pleased with it; but for us coffee was the only thing we needed. We did not see our waitress much, and as we wanted to leave and go grab ice cream, I had to go inside to find her for us to pay.

A good place for a casual bite after a visit to the Melk Abbey.  The pizza crust was not home made, but was adequate.  My salad, with lettuce, tomatoes, potato salad and thinly shaved cucumbers and onions with a sweet oil and vinegar dressing reminded me of salads my Slovenian grandparents used to make.

Decent Pizza and Salad

It is right in the middle of the main square of Melk. It is basically a café but they have some rooms, as well.
We got a huge room on the 1st floor facing Melk abbey which is a nice add. The room was huge, not really a room but rather a flat with a big bathroom, a hall and a huge room. A bit old-fashioned but clean so I would highly recommend it! The price included breakfast in the café hich was also okay ( rolls, cold cuts, jam, butter, coffee).

Great location, perfect for some nights

I stayed in a room above the restaurant and it was very nice.  The location is perfect in the center of Melk.  The restaurant has good food and is reasonably priced.  I traveled to the towns of  Durnstein and Spitz and while both are charming, I am glad that I picked to stay in Melk.  The train station is a short walk from the city which was very convenient.

Great place

Enjoyed staying here, in fact stayed two nights instead of one because the little town is charming and the room is good. Make no mistake, it's a very small town that has no nightlife, but the charm, the view makes up for it. The room is clean, has a modern top notch bathroom, you can see the abbey from the window. The room worked. The service was suitable.

Homemade gulash soup wasn't homemade for sure. Schnitzel was good. Aperol spritz was poor. I think you can find better place for eat in Melk. Is in the main street and you have nice view that's all about it. I don't recommend this restaurant.
