We stopped here for a light lunch after visiting the Abbey. The waitress was very pleasant, the food was good, the service was quick and the prices were reasonable. And it was a very pleasant spot to sit and relax.

Hoping for coffee watching a wedding in the street but the service was ordinary and other than the view not much else was impressing. Staff were not interested and I left without being served. Others were also disappointed. 

Poor experience

Cafe Central Melk is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The room is accessed by a dirty staircase beside their smelly, greasy kitchen.  There is no noise proofing in the room and you can hear people yelling, dishes clattering, doors slamming, and all the restaurant noises.  You can se they tried to provide some noise proofing by tacking some puffy yellow material to the door, but it didn't help.  
The room was shabby and stained.  There was no hair dryer. The curtains were not large enough to cover the entire window, and after dark I wondered who could see me in the room.  The bathroom was nice and updated but the shower water flowed onto the floor.  I couldn't open the window for ventilation to dry the room because the mosquitos were too bad.  
There was no reception desk, just a woman sitting on a stool between the restaurant and the greasy kitchen.  She was incredibly rude and started screaming at me when I informed her I would be spending one night instead of two.  Literally screaming; it was humiliating.  
   If you're on a bike tour of the Danube, do not stay here because they do not provide a bicycle room.  I had to leave my bike chained to a pole on the street and it was vandalized overnight.  The entire stay was a horrible experience.

We stayed here as a couple for 2 nights in September.
Staff were very unfriendly, room was very tired, with handles missing, mats next to bed very stained, wooden floor stained and damaged, and sofa with very large stain all over seating area. The bedding was clean however, but I did not want to look under it. The mattress was most uncomfortable with lumpy springs sticking up. The bathroom was very clean, also the towels, no complaints there. Room was accessed by a staircase past the kitchens which also had stained carpet. The room had a key but no safety latch. Staff did a lot of shouting quite early in the morning, one lady seemed to do most of the work single handed.
We had other negative experiences in Melk, and after visiting Krems on our second day wished we had stayed there.

Servise was bad, food was poor.. Apple strudel was not fresh, waitress was rude, she didn't care about our  complain.  I couldn't  eat anything and had to pay the bill because I didn't want to have trouble.

We had a rude waitress who ran off before we had even finished asking her out order. There seemed to be only one waitress on her own and it was fairly busy but there was no politeness or anything. Such a shame because it is a lovely location and could be a great place. Just ruined by the long wait and rude girl. 

Bad service 

I spent one night at the Cafe Central Melk. I had a very large ensuite room on the 2nd floor.  No elevator.  It was clean, but a little shabby.  The walls had marks on them, the curtains had tears, and there were holes on the baseboards.  The staff were not very friendly, and I don't know if this was a language barrier, or if that was just how they were.  The WiFi worked good.  The breakfast was small but adequate.  You couldn't beat the location, though.  Very close to everything. It was fine for just a stop-over stay.
