Fantastic family-run hotel with lovely staff. 5 course evening meal with fab salad bar  and choice of meat, fish or veggie main courses. Similarly wide choice for breakfast.
Very comfortable beds and nicely appointed rooms. Comfy lounge, with large screen TV with Sky sport. Sauna and steam room. Everything you could want from a small hotel and at a very reasonable price.
But best of all its a 150m stroll to the ski shop, telecabins and bar.

Perfect for a weeks skiing - will return again

I can’t really say enough good things about my stay. The hosts were warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. The food was delicious. My room was comfortable and well-appointed. The spa was lovely- and it was all within a block of one of the main lifts. Just delightful.

Great room, food, location and hospitality

From the first moment I arrived I felt at home. It is the right mix between luxurious and intimate and the food is mouth-wateringly good. Charismatic staff and a fabulous location - and... well how cool to live in a castle! 100% recommendation

What a magical place

It is a perfect place, close to an ideal one.

1.  A few steps to a ski lift Obergurgl / Hochgurgl.
2. Clearness is unbelievable. 
3. Big variation of tasty food. 
4. Nice lobby with a terrific mountain view.
5. Perfect sauna. 

And the main star is the host – Daniel. Waw. His absolute ability to answer any question and to solve any problem in a minute is unbelievable.

The best place in the area!

Daniel and his family could not have been better hosts or made us feel more welcome . We stayed for 5 nights on a ski-ing holiday and it was fabulous. The food was great: good continental selection for breakfast,  a 5 course evening meal (salad, soup, main meal, dessert, cheese) with main meal options every evening.

The hotel is 3 star and therefore the rooms are simple, but very clean and tidy. Beds were really comfortable, with a nice warm duvet and soft pillows The shower in our room was hot and powerful. There’s a lounge for reading with views across to the mountains, a bar and, if you are brave enough, a sauna (we’re British – we didn’t venture in given the ‘birthday suit’ rule!).

The hotel is a 2 min walk away from the Hochgurgl gondola station. The ski bus to Obergurgl and Solden runs from here. The hotel has its own ski-room to store boots and skis however we hired ours from the Scheiber shop at the gondola station and stored our skis and boots there. 

The only downside to the hotel, if there is one, is that it is some way outside Obergurgl. This makes it very quiet but there is a bar/restaurant at the local Hochgurgl gondola station. If you venture out in the evening to Obergurgl, you may need to hire a taxi to get you back as the ski bus service stops around 5.00 and it’s a good 45 minute walk back. That said, Obergurgl is pretty quiet too, if you want more nightlife Solden is a 20 min bus ride away.

Overall though, I can’t recommend this place highly enough.


A little gem - highly recommended

Extremely low value for money and unprofessional management. 
Can not believe the previous reviews were real. 
1. The room and all facility look like it was from 90th of last century. Cheap materials, cheap furniture, no restroom ventilation etc.
2. Owners seems to be pretty tired of managing the place, do not care to make the place nicer (like adding a pot of tea in sauna area, translating menu for English-speaking guests).  Absolute absence of attention to details.
3. When booking the place, got an email giving information that  halfboard included “soup and cakes”. No soup  was offered during 5 days stay. Amount of cakes was so small, that the kids felt inconvenience taking it, asking “what about other people?” Stopped to come for a snack. Seemed like they offered something because they “had to” but not wanted to do so. 
4. Food... the whole place is dilettantish and the food less than average. You can see that the cooks try but no professionalism is there... Hugely oversaulted, Leftovers is on the table next evening, no nicely presented... just curious what eat people who leave positive reviews on that kitchen.
5. The worst thing is management. The owners try to be owners, receptionists and waitresses... these all things resulted in failure. If you are not satisfied with dinner service, you just can not indicate it to waiter/owner as she got upset and angry immediately. No smiles or whatsoever... Last dinner our family left the restaurant without dessert as no one offered it to us after taking the dishes away. The owner was standing and looking snobbishly at us at the bar.
You may like it if you want to get back into 90th of last century with same ambience and service But be aware that no retro -feeling is there... it is just the the place with the owners who is stuck In 90th, with their poor service, unwilling to except the fact that  clients have seen  and expect different level of service. 
The whole place looks really depressive. 
The only positive thing is cleaning ladies trying to make this ugly place nicer. 
Do not risk your vacation, find  different place, we were hugely mistaken by other reviews (real??)


Pretty ugly 

The Burghotel Alpenglühn is a family run hotel just 100 metres away from the Gondola Station that takes you up to Hochgurgl,  Enough parking spaces for people travelling by car and enough space in the Ski room to put your equipment and find your boots nice and warm in the morning.
The family Gufler that takes care of the hotel is very welcoming and helpful, and really make you feel at home from the moment you step in the hotel. We stayed in a triple room and although it was on the small side, very good use of the space available has been made to make it feel cozy.  It was impeccably cleaned every day and beds were very comfortable.
The sauna area is also on the small side but it never really got full, at least while we were there.  
Breakfast was very good and the evening meals varied and well prepared.  Waiting staff was also very friendly and ready to help.
Obergurgl / Hochgurgl is really a wonderful skiing area, high enough to have abundant snow and the slopes are wide and not too crowded.  We will definitely return and if so, the Burghotel will be on the top of our list.

Feeling Home in Obergurgl

Amongst Obergurgl‘s many 5-star hotels, this small hotel beats the others with a personal touch. It offers real value for money, if you are looking for a good place to stay while skiing rather than a lot of luxury, you should consider Burghotel. 

Location: a little outside Obergurgl, 50 meters away from the Wurmkogl lift (and the bus stop to both the Obergurgl lifts and to Sölden) it could not be located better. On the way back you can ski directly to the hotel and put off your skis in front of the locker room. Although the hotel lies directly on the Main Street to Obergurgl, it is quiet because there is little traffic at night. 

Rooms: small, cosy, clean. 

Breakfast: bread, selection of cheese, Wurst, vegetables, fruits, yogurt, müsli, and eggs. Special requests are being fulfilled willingly. 

Dinner: daily changing buffet with seafood, grilled vegetables, and the like, lots of salad—followed by three courses. The food is tasty, fresh and prepared with love. On special occasions (Easter, Christmas) a Gala dinner is prepared. The selection of wines is small, but wisely chosen.. and reasonably priced. Discovered some nice Austrian wines. 

Spa: the spa can not compare with a 5-star hotel. There is a sauna, a steam sauna and small room to rest.  Everything is functional and clean, but rather small. 

Atmosphere: in every positive aspect it is a family business. 

A small, family-run gem

A simpler hotel than we normally visit. It had good simple food and a great salad buffet for dinner. Breakfast could offer more warm options. Rooms were fine and the wellness center small, but also not busy. Guests and hosts were chatty and down to earth. We would like to return again! 

Friendly, cosy and well priced

We have visited this hotel many times, and it always leaves us feeling that we have been treated special. The hotel is very conveniently situated for the Hochgurgl gondola. The rooms, food and service are of the very highest standard.
