We stayed here for 2 nights in July. It was too expensive to stay in Hallstatt, so we decided to stay across the lake. We arrived by train, and there are no taxi stands here. I had emailed the owner previously, he said that the hotel/apartment is about 800meter walk. It took us aabout 15~20min with luggage. We had trouble finding it, because apparently, in austria, all the house numbers jump around!! A very helpful local told us he can drive us there. (We bought him beer afterwards! what a life saver!) Turns out, on the main road out from the train station, you have to walk 800m, and then look for a sign that says " 35 Ferienwohnung Stricker" on a brown tool shed, it should be on your right hand side, then you can turn into the driveway and see the apartment. THe sign was not big, so we were very glad we had someone drove us there.
The owners are a elderly couple who spoke no/very very little English. But the other guests there translated for us regarding laundry, and payment etc. 
They were very friendly, and showed us around the gardens and their pet turtle.
The apartment that we booked was the larger one of their two rental units. It was a little too big for 3 people I feel! I think a family of 4 would stay there comfortably! 
The unit was on the third floor, so be prepare to carry your luggages.
The kitchen was well equipped and was clean. The only strange thing was that in the washroom, there was only the shower stall, and a toilet. No sink to wash your hands... hmmm
the sink was located inside the bedroom. Very strange, but maybe it's an Austrian thing.

Grocery store is located half way between the apartment and the trainstation, so it was very convenient. 
The next day, we took the bus to Hallstatt, and taxied back to Obertraun. I think if you own a car, you would save lots of walking. but it's a very nice walk to and from the train station in the summer. 
Very good deal for people wishing to have vacation by the lakes, or for people looking for a cheaper stay than Hallstatt.
