We received a (literally) warm welcome. The owner knew that we were walking the Alpe Adria Trail and, as it had been a cold and rainy day, had kindly switched on the heating in our room, so that we were soon able to warm up and dry off. We had a good-sized, comfortable room and enjoyed a very good breakfast the next day. The owner was very hospitable throughout our stay. We tasted some of the honey which they had for sale - it was delicious.

Kind hospitality

Petra Grasser and her son were super friendly and helpful. Petra was concerned about my arrival and hiking in the bad weather. I felt very cared for. Her communication via email and Whatsapp was excellent. She had to go out and made sure I knew where the key was and then her lovely son was there to let me in anyway. And the room was heated! Great after 5 hours of walking in the rain. Excellent view up the valley (the few minutes the clouds lifted!). Recommendations for dinner could also not have been better. In the morning Petra made various phone calls for me to rearranged my itinerary due to still heavy rain. Shame the restaurant is closed due to lack of staff. Hard to believe. Good luck with all.  

Super helpful

We had a wonderful stay here in Dobriach, travelling with our son-in-law and granddaughter. The Guest house is about a 20 minute walk from Lake Millstatter, where there are ferry rides down the lake, and many more activities, the lake apparently being one of the warmest in Europe, people were swimming etc. The area is also quite central to the mountains and the flowers in August were stunning, we thought we would have missed them. The breakfasts at the guest house were excellent, the evening meals were limited choice but good. The rooms were comfy and the kitchenette quite adequate for our needs. The family run business is very friendly and they go out of their way to help.

Friendly Guest House in South Austria

I have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions and have found the owner helpful and keen to give customers a great experience. The hotel has recently been completely refurbished and is a good option for ski-ing in BKK if you travel to Austra by car or for a summer break near Lake Mittersee in the summer. The lake has a reputation for its warm water and for varied activities including water sports, biking and walking. Water ski-ing and parascending as well as boat hire is also available for those so inclined.
