Sitting outside, the cowardly black house cat attacked our stray dog without warning and scratched us bloody. The needless waiter became priapotent without an apology.

Hotel on the hill over Schladming, in the calm area.
Good place for walking.
Sommercards were included so we use them every day.
The food was great, with halbpension you could chose one from two meals for diner.
By the good weather, you may have wonder view to the mountains (most of the day we stayed was cloudy).
I really recomend this hotel.

Excelent stay made us pleasant

Today, after arriving in Ramsau on the recommendation of friends, I visit this restaurant with two adults and two children. All the food was very tasty and appealing. The staff is very friendly and also responds to special requests. The prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality offered. We will continue to recommend the house.

Nice kitchen, nice staff

The price-performance ratio is not good. The rooms are completely occupied. The bathroom has no shower curtain at the bathtub. Uralt but: clean. Breakfast is really good. For this, the half-pension menu is not edible, we did not eat the vegetable soup or the main menu. Dessert banana with ice cream ok. The half-pension was taken away from us for the second day voluntarily because it was not used. Very good and very nice. The service staff are all very friendly and kind.

Very nice staff, rooms occupied

We were staying in Stockerwirt for 7 nights during our skiing trip. The guesthouse is located about half way between Schladming and Dachstein, but on the side road. To reach the accommodation from Schladming, it is necessary to drive through narrow winding road and to turn left to even smaller road some 3 km before Ramsau am Dachstein. It is advisable to use GPS or to study a map carefully before going. To come by car is a must, because there is no ski-bus service. During our stay the road was well maintained every day, but we could imagine the snow-chains might be necessary in case of heavy snowfall. The drive to or from Schladming takes about 15 minutes.
Stockerwirt is a secluded dwelling with nearby farm building, so make your shopping in Schladming or Ramsau. There is a spacious parking lot right in front of the building. Ski-room with boot-dryers is also available. 
Our room on the second floor had a bathroom with a tub, separate toilet and small hall with hangers and wardrobe. The room itself was furnished with double bed, nightstands, dresser and small table with a chair and bench in a sitting area. The TV set was of old type and only programs in German were available. Window-door led to a balcony shared with adjacent apartment and offered beautiful view of Dachstein massive in sunny weather. Everything in the room was tidy and clean. However, there were following shortcomings which could be easily corrected: too soft bed mattresses, non-functional ventilator in a toilet and shower-head sprinkling water all over the bathroom. The heating system located in a cellar is quite noisy and could be heard even three levels upward. The guesthouse doesn’t offer its own wi-fi connection, but public wi-fi with limited daily download is available.  
The Stockerwirt is a family run guesthouse and all the staff was extremely pleasant and forthcoming. It is possible to communicate in English with one staff member, others are at least trying. Dining was in the best Austrian tradition: evening meal consisted of soup, salad buffet, main course and desert. It was possible to choose from two different menus. The portions were generous and the meals well prepared and tasty, taking advantage of family farm produces. The breakfasts were buffet style with excellent homemade cheeses and jams aside of usual cold cuts and other stuff.

One week skiing trip

We certainly won't come back here, everything is really rather flawed: - household appliances - electricity not working (in both living rooms there was only one pear in the bathroom) - hollow bedding - windows that almost come up when you open - ceramic tickets with expiry date 2005 (maybe it was still all right) - without ending spelling errors in the daily information for the guests. Breakfast was good, but the half-board menu was again flawed: large parts of the kitchen come from the original Maggi kitchen studio, which was even recognizable on the menu card.

It could have been okay...

I spent four nights with a travel group in this house. The location is wonderful, in the middle of the green, overlooking the attic. The breakfast buffet and dinner were also rich and tasty. The room was very spacious, but unfortunately completely occupied, with thick curtains that have been on the hook for well over 30 years. Very bad but we felt the bed. The very loud guns, with every slight movement, greatly impaired the quality. Unfortunately, the bracelet in the bathtub had no hold on the wall. You had to hold the bracelet and had only one hand, so the bracelet was very difficult to sleep on. I don't think the performance here was suitable at all costs.

I'm afraid it's very crowded.

We spent a few days at the Stockerwirt in Ramsau am Dachstein. An old house, which we usually appreciate if the old walls are also properly maintained. Unfortunately, we could not see anything about it at the Stockerwirt. The comfort room, cleaned but not kept at all. The toilet basin was loose, the toilet ventilation was defective. The showerhead of the brooch was unusable. The closet lacked the locks and handlebars and a specialist table was broken. In natural light, the comfort desk only offered a narrow door. In the first place, only artificial light bulbs, problematic reading the already installed brochures. What was required to be cleaned in the kitchen was then dissolved in the frying pan, and after four hours, the kitchen was cleaned, and the soup kitchen was cleaned.

It's disappointing.

We landed at the Gasthof Stockerwirt by coincidence- but we could not have chosen a better place to enjoy excellent home cooking, efficient and friendly service, big nice rooms with beautiful views of the mountains. This is a place to come  back to again and again. It is a friendly family business - Grandma is in charge of reservations and making wonderful Austrian cakes and desserts, Papa is in the kitchen cooking Styrian specialties, and the son serves the food and takes good care of the guests ...The Gasthof is located right next to the cross country skiing facilities and the wonderful broad walking and hiking roads. If you want to stay in Austria in a place like the Austrians do -do go there. English spoken !
