The best thing about this hotel is the closeness of it to the ski lifts.Yes the rooms were clean enough what spoilt it was the food,which in my opinion is an extremely important ingredient of a holiday.We were half board and the menu for the evening meal left a lot to be desired.You had a choice of only two meals and if you do not like the choices then its unfortunate. Now perhaps the onset of the corona virus has left this hotel wanting,but this is no excuse for the long faces of the hotel staff.We will be back to Austria but not to this particular hotel.

Not great.

This three star hotel was spotlessly clean. Yes rooms were basic but comfortable and had everything you needed. From the balcony we had a lovely view over to the slopes. The ski area was just a five minute walk from the hotel. The centre of the town was just a five minute walk the other way so a great location overall.
A warm ski room was in the basement . 
The staff were helpful and the food was plentiful.

Ski trip

This is a fantastic, hotel. The staff are so helpful and polite. The food is first class . Rooms clean and spacious.
The location is a plus to only 200 meters from gondala, lots of parking to, will be going back.


Family holiday

First of all the location is perfect near town center, spectacular views on the mountains, plenty of parking slots right in front of the hotel. The rooms are comfortable and clean (a quadruple with bunk bed we had). But that is where the good news stop, as this Hungarian run hotel could really use a transformation. The windows were very dirty and old, barely closing. The bathroom was refurbished with the lowest budget possible – no tiles, just a plastic surface covering the floors and walls; clean though. The breakfast consisted in fried sausages and poor quality meats. No guidance from the receptionist for what to do around town or elsewhere, didn’t ask for our feedback at checkout. We fall in love with the little city, but won’t come back in this hotel.

Too bad for the location

The hotel is old and quaint but with everything you need for a lovely holiday.
The staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble.
We stayed in a double room which was well equipped and cleaned daily.
The hotel has amazing views and is well located for the ski area which is just a short walk away.
There is a heated ski room.
Breakfast is buffet style and there is something for everyone. 
The restaurants has a basic menu but everything is well cooked and the service is good.
Rauris is a hidden gem and so worth a visit


Great holiday

We got a very friendly welcome in this hotel. The owners and staff are out to help everyone. It is freshly decorated and lovely and warm. The view from the room was fabulous. The food was always freshly cooked and tasty. Best scrambled egg I have had in years!  There was a games room downstairs although we did not use it.  The location is perfect for the gondola. It would be easy to carry skis daily although due to a stiff shoulder we hired a locker. Going in the other direction the lovely village street is right there. All in all it was excellent value for money.

Just spent a week here and it was fabulous.  Current owners have been there for less than a year and they are very welcoming as are all their staff - nothing is too much trouble. Comfortable rooms and freshly cooked meals add to the positive experience.  Well placed for the lifts, it is a great base for winter skiing and summer walking!

A great place to stay

Rauris and its surroundings are absolutely stunning and the village is only about an hour away from Salzburg. Bad Hallstadt is also not very far away and makes for a great day trip.
The hotel is family lead and very rustic and charming. It's fantastic to wake up looking at the alps. The rooms are basic but very clean, the beds are comfortable. The breakfast buffet offers something for everyone and dinners are freshly cooked.
We had a great stay and would recommend the friendly atmosphere.

Lovely stay, rustic atmosphere 

I recently stayed at Salzburgerhof in Rauris with my family. This price was great and the surroundings are incredibly beautiful, but the service/atmosphere at the guesthouse left a lot to be desired. 

The place is run by a daughter and her parents. The father seemed to be in a good mood, the daughter and mother generally acted like they'd rather be anywhere else than there serving us. They pasted smiles on their faces but it was pretty clear they felt like they weren't charging enough - we made the mistake of sitting at the bar and ended up listening to them complain about money most of the evening. 

We had a full pension deal (all meals included).The food was OK - ranging from not very good to average. It was alright for a day or two but after a few days of yesterdays boiled potatoes becoming today's potato salad and today's mushroom soup and semmelknodel becoming tomorrow's semmelknodel with mushroom sauce, it wore pretty thin. For lunch we were allowed to make sandwiches - I pluralize sandwiches because we were a family of four - don't even think about making more than one sandwich each (signs all over to that effect). 

The room was clean, but the bathroom lid kept falling on our backs while using the toilet. A small thing, but annoying. The pillows were old and worn out (nothing like those in the picture above); when I asked the daughter for another I was told they didn't have any more. The next day I asked the woman cleaning the room (not because I didn't trust the daughter but because I saw that they then had vacancies, while the day before they were fulling booked, so I thought this might be the reason) and she brought one extra pillow later. 

This was typical (the daughter telling me No to my request) as it seems that's their standard answer to all requests: coming from very far away and want them to save a little cold food for dinner (dinner ends at 7:30pm when all meals included)? Forget it. Have to leave early to catch a flight and want some coffee before you go? No chance. It seems that they don't realize that the word "accommodations" stems from the word "accommodate". 

Also quite annoying - they advertise that they have a sauna. Well, this is technically true, but the sauna is only open from 5pm-7pm on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays and that time overlaps the time they serve dinner for their full pension guests. So  unless you want to skip dinner the sauna is effectively available to guests for a grand total of three hours a week. I asked about opening it other times but this was not an option. 

I would definitely go back to Rauris, but when I do, I'll pay a little more for better service, better rooms and a better atmosphere.
