We have been skiing abroad for over 30 years trying different resorts and accommodations, but at last, we have the one for the future.
Great ski in / out with ski room and heated boot storage.  Rooms are lovely, clean and comfortable with great views of the surrounding mountainside.
Breakfast was varied with good choice, plentiful, and delicious.
Elisabeth is lovely.  Friendly and a great help with surrounding restaurant bookings.
I have tried, but been unable to find anything negative to say - and for that reason we cancelled 2021 booking to Zell am See and are returning here!

Perfect

The pension is great. The woman that greeted us was very pleasant and gave us directions in Schladming. They also offer the Sommercard, which we used to go into the Schladming Spa! The view of the valley in the night was stunning. The breakfast was also great.

Very pleasant stay

My husband and I stayed at the Pension Hochwurzen for 2 nights with a friend.  While I booked two double rooms (the only ones available) on Booking.com, we were only charged for one double room and one single room, without even asking.  

The pension was very nice and family owned, typical of others we have stayed in in Germany and Austria.  It was family friendly, with Elizabeth, the owner, speaking very good English.  The rooms were a good size and bathrooms were quite large.  The beds were comfortable and the TV had a decent selection of channels (maybe not in English, but they had Eurosport).  Each room had a balcony with beautiful views of the mountains.  All parts of the pension that we saw were very clean.

Breakfast was served each morning in a bright breakfast room with many windows.  The selection was good and typical for a German/Austrian breakfast: breads, cheeses, deli meats, jams/spreads, yogurt, fruit, boiled eggs.  Coffee and tea were readily available, as were some juices.  

The location of the pension is beautiful, located on the mountainside with very close proximity to ski lifts and trails.  Since we were visiting in August we were each provided with a free "Summer Card" for the area that offered deep discounts or totally free activities.  While there, we went up various ski lifts, rode the "Mountain Go-Carts" twice (would have done it more if we had more time - amazing), rode the rodelbahn, went to the Dachstein glacier (with a free lift and entrance to the mountain area).  All of these activities were free or significantly discounted with our summer cards.  My husband rode his road bike every day up the mountains but wished he also had his mountain bike, as the trails were incredible.  There were so many other things we would have liked to have done but just didn't have the time.  The savings from the use of this card alone probably compensated for the cost of the rooms.  

The towns surrounding the pension were quaint, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and activities to meet our needs.
