My family and I (husband & 2 teens) stayed at Steinerhof Oct 6-8. 
It’s perfectly located, on a quiet street with other guest houses and restaurants within walking distance and just a 15 min drive to the Salzburg City Center. (We walked 5 minutes to the bus stop and took bus 21 into the city — which is very easy.) 

The views from our room 1 were breathtaking of the nearby mountains. There are deer on the property too! 

We had a wrap-around balcony and our room was perfect. The bed was very comfortable, and my daughter wants me to buy the same pillows for her when we get home.  

The guesthouse is immaculately clean, with modern anmenities and fast WiFi! It’s also grand and cozy at the same time with carved wood trim, beams, and authentic Austrian decor. 

The hosts had a big continental breakfast for us each morning with the best coffee and perfectly poached eggs too! 

If we come back to Austria we will stay here again. We had a lovely time! Excellent guesthouse! 


Authentic Austrian Experience and Warm Hospitality 

I have seen some of the reviews on this place and the negative ones are rubbish. The place reeks of a traditional Salzburg guesthouse. Timber everywhere, very clean, great views, friendly staff/owner/caretaker that although he spoke minimal English we got there in the end lol.
Comfy bed and good sized room with good water pressure that was nice and hot. 
Tasty traditional breakfast.
 Couple of nice restaurants nearby as well as some convenient stores not far away.
I hope they never modernise it and just keep it clean and as well maintained as it is.
Oh and yes expect to pay cash but hey it’s not the end of the world 👍🏼

Quaint quality 

The location of this Gästehaus - to us - was beyond wonderful. We had a double room on the second floor with a balcony and were able to overlook the mountain range in the distance. The Untersberg Cable Car took us up to the top of we came to call "Our Mountain" and that capped off an amazing visit. We took the bus downtown with our Salzburg Card and to the Augustiner Brewery and had no problem catching the bus or returning on one. Extremely quiet in the hotel. We felt bad talking too loud! It was nice though. We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay there again in a heartbeat.

We were able to open the door and let the air in. It was a little hot with no air conditioning - but all hotels we stayed at were like that. It would have been nice to have a fan in there. Staff were very nice but spoke hardly any English. I used a translator app to write down a message that our luggage had been lost but would be delivered the next day. That worked well. I also asked Booking.com to provide me with a German translation of my bill so that it would show in German that I had pre-paid just in case of any issues. There were none.

The view from the balcony is everything.

We stayed for 1 night during a recent road trip through Germany & Austria and absolutely loved the Steinerhof and the views from our 1st floor balcony. It was simple to find from the Autobahn and located in beautiful Austrian countryside.

We travelled into Salzburg and couldn't believe how close the Steinerhof was to the centre, within 10-15 minutes we were parking up in the centre alongside the river.

The room was on the 1st floor and was very clean and comfortable with a lovely balcony where we enjoyed the vista 

Breakfast was a slightly strange affair as we were the only couple their and were shut in the dining room alone, breakfast choice was ok with lovely coffee.  Would recommend and we will return

Peaceful stay in great location

Only stayed here 1 night passing through Salzburg. Little bit hard to find and out of main centre but all good in the end. The property his family owned and very traditional but in my opinion well maintained. Our room was warm and cozy, spacious and had everything we needed even a cork screw bottle opener (which we had  trouble finding in other hotels). Views from our balcony just beautiful. Breakfast was simple but just what we needed, hot tea and coffee waiting on table for us. Very peaceful and relaxing place. 
FYI you can only pay in cash NO Card facilities. 



Quaint 

Really nice family owned hotel near Salzburg ,staff really friendly and helpfull,
Grandfather dosent speak english ( or finnish :) ) but He was so great , He spoke austrian german and  we understood. Hes daughter spoke good english. 
Good free parking places near house, nice balcony , clean rooms, good traditional breakfest.

2 nights in Salzburg

Stayed here -96 and was now back 22 years later and we could see it is a long time since they renovated. Rooms was still in good condition however and we were there for two nights. Breakfast was ok and also the price 110€ for three adults incl breakfast.but third bed was kind of tiny.

Good pricelevel

Place needs to be remodeled.  This place has potential but we were very disappointed.  We traveled in Europe 25 days and this is the only negative review.  The wifi and internet on our computer did work, and the website states they accept visa, however the owner insisted we pay cash because his computer was down.  Did not make any attempt to fix the problem, told us to go to bank and get cash.  Machine kaput. We had to give all our cash to this man (caretaker) (owner).  He spoke minimal English and when I looked in his office it looked like the computer was on.  I think this is a scam,  beware.  I would not recommend this place.

This b & b is kaput

I booked with them then they changed the price after booking and cancelled on me. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. That’s so wrong and unprofessional. They wouldn’t even offer me an alternative. Just kept ordering me to accept the cancellation. That’s very unprofessional.
