We had booked one of the apartments for three adults and a kid. The accomodation was very clean and even more roomy - an important point if you have winter sports gear (clothing, gloves, protectors, helmets ...) that needs drying. The furniture is not the newest, but in good condition. 
One minor point is the walking distance to the bus stop - the landlord claimed 1 minute. But 5 minutes is closer to the mark, especially in full skiing gear. Also, EUR 2,90 for 30 minutes of WiFi usage seems a bit out of place in 2016.

Roomy and clean

We have just arrived back from a lovely holiday at the S'Waldhaus in the Pitztal valley.

We were a group of 5 people staying in two rooms; one double room and one three-person room.

The accommodation is located in a small village (more like a hamlet) called Plangeross, right at the end of the Pitztal valley. The village is very beautiful and is complete with a convenience store and a fantastic restaurant (please read my other review on the "Restaurant Bergwerk" for more information)

It takes just a couple of minutes to walk to the bus stop from the S'Waldhaus, down the side of the "Haus Bergwind" and it is a fairly easy walk (nothing too taxing). The bus stop is in the centre of the village and buses run every 15-20 minutes in the direction of the Pitztaler Gletscher/Rifflsee ski resorts. In the other direction, you can take the bus to the "Hochzeiger" ski resort in Jerzens: the bus runs at '30 past the hour, each hour (there is a gap at lunch time)
The bus ride is a pleasant 35-40 minutes and it's worth the trip (First bus leaves at 8:41 so that you can arrive there early around 9:15-20)

The skiing in the valley is of a great standard with reliable snow conditions, particularly on the glacier.

Onto the accommodation: The building is relatively new (built in 1991) but with some nice touches and Austrian charm too. The rooms are fairly basic but comfortable and homely. The views from the rooms are spectacular (ask for a room at the front if you want the best ones!).
Each room comes with a balcony and well equipped bathroom. There is a small television with 20 or so German channels (unfortunately no English stations). 

The wellness area is spacious and features sauna, Infra-red cabin as well as a steam room.  It comes with an extra charge but don't feel you're being cheated. There are similar accommodations in the village for a more expensive price which include the wellness area in the main price. Bear in mind that, once you add on the price for the use of the wellness area it works out about the same in the S'Waldhaus when comparing.

The breakfast is not all that varied (as claimed by the website) but is adequate and of a good quality. The "Fruehstuecksraum" (Breakfast room) is lovely: light and airy with lovely views outside. The room can be used by guests in the evening and there is a delightful fire and Television there to be enjoyed.

The owner, Stefan, is friendly and helpful. He is not a very proficient English speaker so communication can be a bit tricky with a lack of German. However, a small amount of German goes a long way (that goes for the whole valley!)

In summary, we thouroughly enjoyed our week in the Pitztal and would consider returning again, possibly to the S'Waldhaus. The price was good and we found the valley to be idyllic, typically-Austrian and just what we were looking for. The skiing is recommended and we had a great time!
