Our choice of Pension Steinkogel has been made based on  published photos on Booking.com and hotel's website.  When we arrived at this hotel we noted that our room is located at another building not so stylish and nothing like the images advertised on internet. It was  below our expectations. The room was big but not the slightest cozy, A very 80's design. There was nothing what could catch your eye. Dark corridor, heating didn't work well in the room, no bath amenities, no wi-fi. And there is absolutely nobody at propery. Good manager or host says hello or just asks if everything is okay to make  guests feel welcomed and comforted. But no one showed up during our stay. The third day I wrote massege informing that we prefer to pay by cash and  having hope that someone finally come to us. No answer meaned that probably propery is managed by someone who lives on distance. In this case we didn't check out at the front desk, because there is no front desk , we just hanged up the key in the key storage and left place. 
Giving credit card details to the hotel means to give authorization to charge of full payment for the stay. They successfully  charged me already 162 EUR as guarantee of reservation. They also got all request information to charge me for the stay.  On the way to home I pick up a few calls from the owner. The Lady  was so furios and extremely rude by phone informing that she will call police. I expain her that she can  charge  to the card number I gave before coming. 
This is not a hotel that being honest with its customers.  No good manners simply showed no respect for other. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Focused on making money,  ignoring guests

This hotel is a very good value if you are staying for downhill activities in Pitztal. Visited it with my kid and a group of other families. There was a sauna also available.
Nice, clean and quite. But during our stay, there was no restaurant working, nor the bar. But for our purposes its was ok.

Good value and convenient for downhill weekend

We stayed in Pension Steinkogel in the beginning of May 2012. Our group was parents with children aged 3-12 on a ski trip. I must say that the pension is very clean, well kept and rather cosy. The public areas have some antique staff and you can see that the owners care about decoration and making it look nice.  The owners are nice and helpful and were really patient with our kids))  The rooms & bathrooms are very clean, everything works as it is supposed to work. The rooms were cleaned very well daily. Beds are comfortable (only the pillows seemed uncomfortable, but after a couple of days we got used to them). The food was really very very good. Actually everybody in the group were surprised with the food quality! It was plentiful and really well prepared (actually much better than one might find in restaurants) with plenty of fresh salad, dessert and good main dish & soup. Breakfasts are also plentiful but not hot. (Wifi needs to be paid separately). The pension has a souna area, but I haven't tried it so can not comment. Others in the group went daily. Ski bus is a 3 minute walk. I must say that the value against price was great. I would've return to this pension))
