A very nice hotel near the Danube, with very calming view from the balcony.
The crew was very nice and helpful. They were very patient with all our logistic problems and needs, and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable.

The most accommodated experience

Great location, meals and hospitality during our one night stay.  We were biking along Danube river and had a excellent experience at Gasthof Schatzkastl.  Dinner outside overlooking the river was wonderful.  Nice menu with a range of choices, well priced for the value.  Service was efficient.  Rooms are basic, but very clean and very quiet.

Wonderful stay while cycling along the Danube river

Room next to road, very noisy, hot if window open. Rude hosts. The nearby town had no shops open and hosts were unhelpful. No sleep possible in this hotel which was a shame after a 76 km bike ride. Would not recommend it.

Rude and Noisy

We stopped for lunch and were glad we did.  The food was fabulous, goat cheese salad and a garlic soup and salad.  Very fresh and tasty.  The view of the Danube from the terrace is superb and the hotel is ideally situated for exploration of the area.  We didn't stay here, we wish we had instead of the place we did stay, but if we visit again we would definitely look at booking a room here.

Fabulous place for lunch

Very nicely located on the Danube and literally off the cycling path with a nice terrace to enjoy the views. It was ok for a night but we found a few things wanting: We arrived late and were told on the phone that the restaurant closes at 8pm - no offer of any help, recommendation of nearby restaurants or a Jause. The wifi supposedly works in the common area but they only switch it on at 8am because they were hacked recently... The rooms are fine, bathrooms are spacious with good shower but I found that with a few small improvements they could make the whole experience so much more enjoyable, i.e. blackout or just dark curtains that fully cover the windows. The breakfast was fairly meagre compared to other places and when the coffee machine didn't work, the host barked at one of the guests for breaking it. Turned out the cable wasn't plugged in. We left with the impression that the place would benefit from a more hospitable spirit and some small improvements and it would be a different experience.

Nice location, hospitality so so

 Great spot for Danube cyclists on South bank.  We enjoyed a meal and good service in the evening from the restaurant on ground floor with great outlook over an interesting part of the river where water skiing is available on season. 

We were in rear facing bedroom - comfortable room, comfortable bed and good shower. River facing room would be preferable. 

Cleanliness and quality of finish throughout all excellent (if a little dated). 

Breakfast was the least appealing offer of those we have experienced so far on our end of season cycle tour of the Danube. The overall impression on 18th October was of end of season. The hotel advise that they close for the month of November. 

We also noted; A. TV in bedroom is small old tube type of low def. B. No TV channels in English. C. Free wifi normally available in reception hall area was not available during our visit. Apologies were offered for the Wifi breakdown. 

My rating would be between 3 and 4. I opted for 3 rather than 4 due to A, B, and C detailed above plus end of season feel presented. I guess that the hotel feels much better mid season. 

Ideal location

Our room was a good size and quite comfortable with private balcony overlooking the Danube and a baroque Schloss on the other bank. No problems with Mosquitos as the weather was quite cool. A delightful Aperol Spritzer on the terrace after another long days cycling was very welcome. Location 15 minutes or so from the village discouraged eating elsewhere at night, but the food and wine in the Gasthof restaurant were excellent and reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Wifi was only free in the lobby, so couldn't be 
bothered paying for it in our room. Breakfast adequate, very similar to other guesthouses. Right on the cycle way, so easy to find and leave. Good garage storage for bikes. Overall, a pleasant stay.
