Velden am Woerthersee

We were in the boarding house for 2 nights and 3 days, the location is really good. It's about 10 minutes walk from the beach and about 7 minutes walk from the center. We were really only in the boarding house for shower, sleep and breakfast (large selection) and everything really suited up. Free wool and refrigerator in the room, perfect. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.

Optimal price/performance and location

The many negative reviews were a bit of a shock to us at first. But we were positively surprised. The staff welcomed us very kindly even though we had already arrived early in the morning. The rooms are not modern, but they were very clean. The beds had new mattresses and were very comfortable. The breakfast was really delicious with great selection. There was really something about everything (different pastries, sausage, cheese, cereal, chicken, bacon, fruit, div. Drinks, croissants...) There is a point of discount because the rooms were very bright.

Clean, super breakfast

It's a very small, well-occupied room with untrained staff and a rather chaotic layout. There's absolutely nothing here. Price/performance is above average. The boss is not present. Breakfast is served in a small room that was probably last renovated between 1975 and 1985.

A Terrifying Example

We visited the Pension Regia from 10 to 12 July 2017. Unfortunately, our daughter got sick the weekend before. We called the reception on Friday, and announced that unfortunately she can't go with us and if you can do something about the price. The man who answered the phone was very unfriendly unfriendly. His answer was just write us an email. So we did so unfortunately we didn't get any response until the place of arrival. When we finally arrived at the pension, the reception wasn't even occupied so we looked for a cleaner on the front desk and gave us the keys. We asked when the reception was occupied. We finally gave the answer after the check-in phone. When we arrived at the pension, we didn't get any food for two people (every early in the day, we didn't get any email). We never got a meal in the room again!

The smartest pension!

Pension Regia is a bit odd. No one spoke with us on check directly.  We had to call the premises, and were directed to keys in a box.  So overall, it's very impersonal.  However, the rooms were clean and had a fridge, shampoo/soap, plenty of power sockets.  Everything worked, including the free internet - but the rooms were old fashioned a little tired.
Breakfast was pretty good, with fresh yoghurt, meats, cheeses, cereal, warm assorted breads, croissants, fruit.  Pension Regia is a 10 minute walk to the centre of Velden and it doesn't have lake access. It does have free parking however.  It's overpriced for what you get, but so is everywhere else in Velden.

Tired, but clean and good breakfast

We booked a room with no breakfast. The cleanliness is excellent and the rooms are well equipped. (Frigidary, TV, enough sockets, balcony, towels, etc.) The location was also ideal for us, it takes about 8-10 minutes to walk to the centre of Velden. It is cheap compared to other regions, unfortunately. You generally spend ~30-40€ more per night in a double room in Velden than in other regions of Austria. If you are aware of this, you can consider a comfortable stay here. We would visit the Pension Regia again.

Holidays

We were left standing on the day of our arrival. We had a booking confirmation in our hand and just because they missed our deposit our room was cancelled (without any information about it). Then we were also not offered to look for another room but we were simply rejected and it was just said that they were sorry. We had to take care of a room ourselves after that which was quite difficult on the day of Star-Night at the Wörthersee. I was very disappointed with this pension and I strongly recommend that you ask before you arrive if the room was booked. I will never set foot in this pension or in the Garni Hotel again because I can give up on such a client.

Stop it!

Strategic location relative to the pedestrian centre close enough to walk around. With ample parking. The large bathroom with spacious shower. Wide choice for breakfast. Possibility of making payments with POS or credit card.

Strategic location

... we are about 700 metres from the centre of Velden (casino area). I booked a flight the day before I left and had to adapt... for almost 53 euros a night (bed & breakfast treatment) I expected something more. Quiet hotel, clean, friendly staff... breakfast a little tiratin... In Austria I am used to finding tables of sweets for breakfast... but here everything was quite narrow!
