Great place to get the 1960's atmosphere in Vienna, the lift to the Rooms is old stye, Rooms are vast with a very comfortable Bed.
Breakfast is cold continental and good only thing the place lacks is a civilised bar/coffee facility but with a lovely restaurant next door who really needs one.

Would highly recommend if you're going to Vienna stay here and soak up the atmosphere. 

Out of a 'James Bond' Movie

Located opposite the main bus and train station, the hotel is very old and worn down... the elevator was quite freaky and fun! Hostels would be a better option at the same rates, but if hostels are not an option for you, then this is a decent option for the price u pasy

Hotel Furstenhof is a blast from the past ....this has pros and cons. The hotel is in a wonderful old building directly opposite Westbanhof Station.The outside promises great things so the entrance is a bit of an anti-climax. Reception is small and not hugely welcoming but the receptionist was helpful andof course talked perfect English ,as most Austrians do. I was travelling alone and my originally allocated room was frankly unacceptable , pokey and dark. I complained and ,to be fair was given a very nice room on the second floor , so this review is based on that. 
The upper rooms are reached by an impressive sweeping staircase or an ancient lift with mesh sliding doors, really 'echte' Vienna' The landings have high ceilings and huge doors which lead to various separate clumps of rooms off large vestibules. Really gives you a feel of old grandure even if a little faded.
My room was clean ,light and had huge double glassed windows overlooking the corner of Mariahilferstrasse one of the main shopping streets. .I had a flat screen TV and a bathroom and shower en suite. There was also a fridge in the room. No tea or coffee making facilities unfortunately.
The hotel has no catering but , as you are surrounded by hundreds of small bars and bistro's and opposite the station, this is not a problem. 
The biggest asset of this Hotel is the position... everywhere in Vienna is easy to get to. U-bahn, mainline Station and trams are seconds away so if you are fed up with corporate faceless motels, give this a chance...its not perfect, but it is authentic, and kind of fun!

Old School ...Elegance just off the boil!

What a difference 35 years make! LOL.  My wife and I booked this hotel because we had stayed one night there back in 1982 and we recalled it a relatively pleasant experience. Not anymore! The place looks and smells like it has not been updated since we were last there. It is dingy and poorly lit. The front desk staff is unhelpful. Best advice: stay away. Not worth it - even at the low price.

The guy at the front desk will not book tours, has some major attitude,will not offer advice on what to see what to do in the birthplace of divine music, I will not suggest this hotel to any and i mean any traveler no matter how long your stay in Vienna is, I give this hotel a FIVE star rating for everyone to be able to read this immediately
