We stayed at the hotel for a week’s skiing in February, we booked through Crystal and it was the cheapest property in Zell am See that they had, and having read some other reviews I was a bit anxious but needn’t have worried, it is warm, clean and welcoming. The bedroom, with a balcony was basic but had big Austrian Twin beds, which could easily be a double, a wardrobe,  telly and a clean decent shower and loo. Shower was always hot. It lacked tea and coffee making facilities but we brought a travel kettle and a supply of tea and hit chocolate which drew no complaints. Room was cleaned and bed made every day, including folding any clothes we left laying around. Downstairs is a breakfast room,  breakfast was pretty basic p, cereal, cold meats, scrambled egg that sort of thing but was perfectly fine. A boot room To keep the skiing gear was downstairs and included boot warmers. There is a little wellness area with a sauna but we didn’t use it. Opposite is the swimming pool and ice rink, and a 24hr garage with a shop is close by. A short walk sees you in the town with a choice of restaurants and bars, but it is a fairly quiet town and not a party place. It’s about a 10 minute walk (in ski boots) to the ski shop and cable car, a bus (free with lift pass) can take you to neighbouring resorts although they do get busy. Taxis are a cheap alternative. I did notice a bit of traffic noise as our room was at the front. There isn’t much of a view although you can see the mountains, It’s definitely not the most opulent hotel in Zell, but considering how much cheaper it was it was more than adequate for our needs, we would definitely stay there again

Basic but perfectly adequate

Lovely place to stay . Only 5 min walk to lifts . Room was clean and tidy. Spacious boot room . Breakfast everything you require before hitting the piste . We also took the half board option which was lovely too . Eating at the Aydin restaurant just 5 mins away  . Great food.

Ski trip

We stayed in room 204 which is on the second floor. It is almost completely filled by the comfortable king sized bed. There is also a wardrobe with a dodgy sliding door, a small shelf, two tiny bedside tables with lamps and two plastic chairs on the balcony. We cleaned up and brought in one of those chairs to put clothes on. I suggest you take one of those ikea hanging shelf organisers for your small things as there are no drawers.There were also only 5 hangers for the two of us. Larger rooms had no more furniture.

The bathroom is almost as big as the bedroom and very clean with a hot powerfull shower although this was let down by the shower head continually falling down - pack something to fix it as the management dont seem to bother. 

There is a tv on the wall and the main light can be controlled from the bed. There is a free plug socket each side of the bed.

The room has two radiators which you can adjust. We did find it to be rather warm and so left the window open a touch at night. The room is at the front and there is some noise from the road but we slept ok.

We only had one key and the place is only manned at breakfast. Twice people were locked out of their rooms by the cleaners and had to wait for the reps to come and let them in. Apparently they had to wait hours so take a care with the key!

The breakfast room is pleasant and there is a good choice, provided you are down early. The croissants are very good, a waffle machine makes an appearance and there is scrambled egg, cheese, meats, yogurt etc every day. That room is left open all the time and the hot drinks machine is 1 euro after breakfast.

The basement has three saunas, a relaxation room and ski and boot storage. The boot heaters are good and although there are no lockers the room cannot be opened from outside without a key. The sauna is on from 4-8pm and there is left out about 5 small bottles of water, some cartons of juice, crisps and possibly hot water for tea. There are plenty of towels available and showers but i could not find a drinking water tap so take a bottle with you as the water runs out quickly.

There is a bedroom in the basement and one right next to the breakfast room. Avoid these as the noise of people congregating at night will be very disturbing!

A halfboard option is offered. Unless you are a large group I would suggest you don't take it. There are many nice and inexpensive places to eat. I recommend Brasserie Traube or Cafe Kupferkessel. Up the mountain you can't go wrong in Eder Hutte and the Hochzelleralm.

The lake itself can be easily walked round in a couple of hours for beautiful views. It is just over 10km. Busses to Kaprun and the glacier go from the Postplatz near CityExpess gondola. 

I recommend this property to those looking for clean, budget accomodation near to a lovely town but with the reservation that you are going to be left to your own devices.

This hotel has a great cost-benefit for those looking to stay in a very beautiful place, close to restaurants, bars, train stations and buses - all easy to reach on foot! Very cozy and clean! We love it!

While the extra amenities like the sauna and breakfast buffet were not readily available since we visited in the summer months, we enjoyed our stay at Haus Edelweiss. Check-in was smooth and we were able to snag one of the free parking spots in front of the hotel. It was an easy 5-8 minute walk to old town but because the hotel is on the end of the town, its much quieter. The room had everything we needed for our 3 night stay and I would recommend to others.

Great location

My son and I had a very enjoyable stay here last week. I had read that people found it noisy, however we were on the 3rd floor and had no issues with noise. The room was clean but basic, which is what I expected. The room was tidied every day for us. The breakfast was great, a variety of meats, cheese scrambled egg, cereal, etc. I would recommend this hotel. It was also walking distance to the town and ski lift. 

Perfect stay

For the price this accommodation is perfecly acceptable. As stated in other reviews its not a hotel more a collection of rooms. Yes our room was small (the bathroom was huge though!!) But it was clean and warm as served as a place to sleep not socialise.

Breakfast was fine, the only niggle I had was having to pay for hot drinks in the afternoon from the same drinks dispenser that was free for breakfast. We had also booked half board which meant walking to a restaurant the other side of town to eat on a night as there are no facilities at Haus Edelweis. At first it seemed like a chore but to be honest it was nice to go for a walk around the centre of town after what were all very nice meals. 

The ski lift was approx 10mins walk away which was easier in normal footwear as we carried the ski boots to the skihire shop which was located below the town skilift. There are lockers for boots (and own skis) at the hire shop but they get taken very quickly and there wasn't any left by the time we arrived. Skis / boards hired from there can be stored overnight free which made the walk back much easier.

A nice clean base for a budget ski holiday with a good location for the price.

Clean and convenient

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel for a skiing weekend over Christmas. I was very appreciative as the price seemed too good to be true (for a week skiing peak time). When we arrived we were welcomed by friendly staff on reception and a welcome drink. The room is small but is it very clean. I have paid almost three times the price of this hotel in over resorts and had rooms no bigger. The bathroom is very large with a great power shower. There are a few things that could be improved, breakfast is okay pretty basic however it’s nice enough and the towels could be a big bigger! No hotels in Zell are ski in, ski out. The walk to the lift is about 5 minutes which actually turned out to be not as bad as it sounds! The reception isn’t manned all the time but you get you got a fob for the front door and we didn’t find it to be an issue . It is worth noting that the boot room is a room for the hotel rather than indivual lockers. We took our ski equipment upstairs and kept it in the bathroom ( which was huge) maybe over cautious but we wanted to ensure their security. For the price of the hotel you really can’t complain.

Relieved!

It's very clean and spacious. The only drawback is the slow internet. It's nice living space. It's even free to go to the lake by road.

The situation is unique!

(Visited Feb half term 2018) This is honestly the worst place I have ever stayed- so bad that we successfully gained a financial settlement back from TUI, who we booked with. On arrival, the room was tiny and sparsely decorated with cheap furniture (more on that to come.) It was late at night when we arrived, we were hugely disappointed as this was meant to be our cosy nook after a day's skiing. We decided to go to bed and look at it with fresh eyes the next morning. Whilst I was getting ready for bed, the bathroom door handle fell off in my hand, and when my husband went to put his clothes away, the wardrobe door broke. When he went to turn off the light, he noticed what looked like dried blood on the lamp (he's a medical professional, I'm inclined to take his word for what that looks like!) And we found a selection of interesting hairs in the bed. Settling down to sleep was no mean feat, as the bed (standard Austrian twin) was so old and exhausted that each mattress had a huge depression in the middle. In addition, the walls were paper-thin, meaning that the chap in the room next to us kept us awake all night with his snoring (we bear him no ill will, he wasn't even snoring very loudly, it was as though he was in the room!) 

The next morning, we went down to the breakfast room (which was fine, but after how filthy the room was, we were reluctant to eat much) and my husband phoned our TUI rep. He agreed that it was unacceptable, and offered to have the room cleaned. We asked for alternative accommodation, which could not be done as it was half term. Worryingly, they offered to place a family coming to stay that day in the uninhabitable room and give us theirs, which we refused. It was so awful that we came home after a day, something neither of us has ever countenanced doing before. 

I have not posted this review until now as to not compromise the meditation we went through to secure a refund (which we got). If you look at my other reviews, you will see that generally, I am easy to please and love everything- my husband and I have traveled extensively, including to Zell, staying everywhere from hostels upwards, and have never, EVER been so disappointed. Please, avoid this place, and don't let it spoil your holiday.
